Post:South East Wales Netball Development Officer

(Part Time position -30 hours per week – applications for a full time position of 37 hours per week will be considered)

Main Purpose:To ensure delivery of the Welsh Netball strategic plan as it applies to the South East WalesArea Association (covering the local authorities of Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and part of Caerphilly)

Initial Tasks

To help grow the recently establishedSouth East Area Netball Forum, working closely with stakeholders to identify and deliver against agreed national and regional objectives;

To set and meet specific targets for the development of individual clubs across the region;

To liaise with all stakeholders (including Sport Wales andeach of the local authorities in the Area) on all netball matters, including grant aid advice and support and child protection and safeguarding, as well as the delivery of community, LAPA and other local programmes;

To develop ideas for increased community netball participation (including Festivals, junior development games and competitions);

To ensure that all netball activity fits in with Welsh Netball’s talent identification programme and performance pathway, including assisting with the South East training Hub;

To line manage community coaches and other Welsh Netball-engaged staff in the Area;

To work with Welsh Netball in establishing a regional plan to develop personnel (coaches, umpires, team managers, welfare officers, club committee members and other volunteers).

More detailed work programmes will be agreed between the post holder and Welsh Netball upon appointment, reviewable after the first six months in post.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Salary Range:The pro rata salary for the post is £19,460(based on a 37 hour working week). Applications for a full time post of 37 hours will be considered.

Base:To be confirmed based on successful postholder’s location but there will be a base available initially at Welsh Netball’s offices in Cardiff.

Terms and ConditionsThe terms and conditions of the post will be those of the Welsh Netball Association.

Hours of Work:30 hours per week: while normal office hours generally apply, the nature of this post requires some work during evenings, at weekends and/or at holiday periods.

Travel and Subsistence:Business mileage will be paid at the Welsh Netball approved rate.

Contract:This post is offered on a fixed term contract, effectiveuntil 31st August 2015.

Person Specification

Skills and Qualities / Essential / Desirable

Education

Hold a degree or equivalent qualification
Hold a recognised netball coaching qualification
Hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification or similar / 


Experience

At least two years’ experience insports development
Experience of delivering training
Experience of writing, monitoring and evaluating reports
Experience of managing budgets
Experience of working with schools, national governing bodies of sport and sports clubs / 

Understanding the sport of Netball
