Summary of role:

Working in the Education and Training Department, the post-holder will take an active role in theresearch, development, implementation andevaluation of educational technologies underpinning the delivery of high quality Learning and Teaching (L&T) at LSTM. You will be required to have experience of working with academic teams to develop blended and online programmes using sound pedagogic principles, and be proactive in the promotion of technology in support of L&T towards School strategic aims.You will also take an active role in the administration, monitoring and improvement of educational technologies and provide high quality end user support.

Key responsibilities:

  1. To promote development of pedagogically sound programmes and learning materials
  2. To have a sound understanding of effective pedagogical approaches and the relevant application of technology to support L&T.
  3. Actively promote, encourage and support approaches to blended and on-line learning
  4. Work with academics and project staff to develop appropriate pedagogical approaches, assessment models, interactive learning experiences and collaborative learning opportunities in support of blended and online learning opportunities
  5. Design and develop high quality learning resources in a variety of formats
  6. Source existing open educational resources, assess the quality of the resources and repurpose to meet identified learning outcomes
  7. Ensure that programmes and learning materials are developed using established quality standards
  1. To provide high level system administration and technical support of all institutional educational technologies in support of L&T
  2. Achieve and maintain a high level working knowledge of all educational technologies used in support of L&T
  3. Manage product upgrades and post upgrade testing by liaising with software providers and manage effective communication with all end users
  4. Manage the resolution of technical issues by liaising with LSTM staff and software providers as appropriate
  5. Take an active role in strategic planning and technical implementation of new learning technologies, ensuring they meet specific educational needs in support of LSTM strategic aims
  6. Monitor, maintain and evaluate the effectiveness of educational technologies
  7. Ensure accurate creation of courses, staff and student user accounts and associated enrolment of staff and students in the institutional Virtual Learning Environment, Brightspace
  1. To provide academic staff and students with high quality support and training
  2. Serve as key point of specialist contact to end users in the use of educational technologies andprovide best practice advice
  3. Identify user needs and create high quality training and support materials for use by students and staff
  4. Develop and deliver effective student induction programmes in the use of educational technologies
  5. Research design and deliver effective staff development sessions in the use of educational technologies
  6. Continually assess and review the support mechanisms for users of technology in T&L to ensure effective support

  2. Act as an advocate of educational technologies, championing their uses and seeking to increase adoption across the institution
  3. Actively keep abreast of developments in educational technologies
  4. Identify and make recommendations (e.g. in policies and procedures) to contribute to the operational improvement of the TEL Unit
  5. Provide advice on strategic plans for system use and expansion
  6. Provide support for colleagues within the Education and Training Department, covering for sickness and absence when necessary
  7. Be responsible for working in a safe manner adhering to local and legal requirements
  8. Carry out other related duties commensurate with the role, as may be required by the TEL Manager

Experience of the use and technical support of Lecture Capture systems.
Experience of the use and technical set-up of Learning Object Repositories
Experience in the development of and support of approaches to distance learning
Experience in the management of data integrations between Student Information Systems and Educational Technologies
