POST NEWSLETTER/CALENDAR FOR JULY - AUGUST 2015
Commander’s Comments:
Comrades and Sisters,
I would like to thank everyone for their continued support to our post, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you this upcoming year.
I want everyone to know that the House Committee meetings are held the Monday prior to the VFW Post meetings on Thursday. Everyone is welcome to attend, and I encourage anybody having ideas or suggestions to come out and share them.
To keep our post alive and moving in the right direction, we need to increase membership. We need to focus on the recruitment of service members that are returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These prospective members are the future of the VFW and our Post! We need everybody’s help in recruiting.
This is YOUR Post! Please try to attend all meetings and take an active role in what goes on. If you are truly concerned about our Post and have ideas on making it better, bring them to the meeting. Remember that you are a voting member and the only place your vote counts is at the meeting.
Our next District meeting will be held at Jacksonville, Post 9133, on 20 September 2015. Let’s try to have a good showing from our Post.
We have several project in work to improve the Post grounds and the building. If you can come out to help, let me know.
Please take a few moments to review our calendar of events and plan on coming out to support our Post. Post breakfast is on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 9AM, and Steak Night on the last Friday of the month.We also have Texas Hold’m Poker on Fridays starting at 7 PM.
Come out July 4th for our picnic at the Post. Please feel free to bring your favorite dish. The sign-up sheet can be found on the bulletin board in the canteen. We plan on eating around 4 PM. Bring your families and come out and join the fun!

Ladies Auxiliary:
The Ladies Auxiliary and MOCA will be having a dance in August. We hope to have all members and guests join us for a “sizzling” good time! It is important to have your input and suggestions, so we need you at the meetings! We are in the planning stages for the dance …please try to make the next two meetings!
I look forward to having more “events"
At the April meeting we voted on doing away with our Cancer Insurance. The only thing our Cancer Insurance pays is $45.00 a day for in Hospital stays. We will still be able to get our Cancer Grants (2) in your life time, at least (1) year apart.
Please pray for our troops and their families, every day, they need them.
If you have not paid your 2015 annual dues, I’m sorry to say that you are no long a member in good standing.
Please try your very best to come and join us for the work the Auxiliary does for our troops and our veterans; your help is greatly needed.
We wish everyone Health and Happiness. Remember meetings are the 3rd. Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.

Men’s Auxiliary:
We are at the beginning of a new year. Please if you have not paid your dues please do so. We need more people out for our meeting. There will be a meeting on July 12th at 1 PM, we need all members to attend so we can elect officers and get some other things taken care of for the year. Will return to regular meeting on the 1st Sunday of each month at 9:45 AM on August 9th. Hope to see all of you there so we can have a meeting. Thank you.

Listen up Cooties, you worked long and hard to be worthy to become a Cootie. It is now time to show your loyalty to our crummy organization. Come out and join us on Sunday July 12that 4 PM for our Scratch. The Scratch for August will be on the 9th at 4 PM. L.O.T.C.S.

BUT remember if you are an annual member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW your dues there must be paid first!
Ladies, the MOCA and the Ladies Auxiliary 2514 will be hosting a “HOT AUGUST NIGHT” dance, on Saturday August 22nd at 8 PM. Come join us. Let’s kick up our heels like we used to, if you can’t kick them up on the dance floor make noise at your table. There will be hot hors d’oeuvres; there will also be a DJ. It will be $8 for singles and $15 for couples. Tell all your friends, if you can’t come, at least buy a ticket to support your auxiliary! I hope everybody is keeping cool and please remember EVERY DAY IS VETERANS DAY!

POST CANTEEN NORMAL OPERATING HOURS:
The Post Canteen will operate 7 days a week and will open for business at 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM each day. The Canteen will stay open later at the discretion of the on duty bartender.
