POST: Community Fundraising & Volunteer Manager

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive

PURPOSE: To work with the Chief Executive to develop, implement and coordinate the Scleroderma Society’s volunteer and individual fundraising strategy and its volunteer programme.

DESCRIPTION: The Scleroderma Society has a number of sources of fundraised income. The most important of these is from our community and volunteer fundraisers. From marathon runners through to local collections and cake sales, the development of this area is vital to the future development of the organisation. We are also reliant on volunteers who take on a number of roles within the organisation.

We are looking for an organised, excellent communicator to channel the enthusiasm or our volunteers and supporters, to maximise income from our community fundraising and to make this role their own.

Supporting Society Event fundraising

1.  Provide direct support to event participants such as sending out race packs, giving advice and encouragement, cheerleading on the day of the event (this will involve occasional weekend working);

2.  Liaise with event suppliers (Skyline, Ride 100 London, etc);

3.  Produce and update challenge event communications materials (such as articles for the website or newsletter, fundraising packs etc.);

4.  Administer challenge events, for example keeping a record of expressions of interest, online registration of participants;

5.  Maintain accurate records of events, participants, donations and suppliers on our iTarget database , JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving pages;

6.  Monitor and report regularly on pledged and received income from events, contributing to financial forecasts and budgets;

7.  Support the fundraising side of our national awareness day – Get Your Gloves On!

8.  Keep up-to-date with trends and new events to help plan future strategy.

Deliver the Society Individuals Fundraising Strategy

1.  Develop strategies to increase income from regular giving eg GAYE, standing orders

2.  Manage individual giving campaigns (currently planned two/three per year), including developing the appeal, compiling the mailing list and managing and measuring the response.

3.  Produce and update individual giving communications materials (such as the website, thank you letters, regular giving sign-up forms etc.)

4.  Manage relationships with third party suppliers such as Just Giving, Missionfish, etc

5.  Maintain accurate records of individuals and donations on the iTarget database

6.  Monitor and report regularly on pledged and received income from individuals contributing to financial forecasts

7.  Keep up-to-date with trends in individual giving to help plan future strategy.

Develop Community giving

  1. Develop community fundraising materials such as a community fundraising page on the website, flyers and posters
  2. Manage a fundraising campaign targeting local community groups such as the Lions, Rotary Club, WRCS, etc. including developing the appeal, compiling the mailing list and managing and measuring the response
  3. Maintain accurate records of community groups and donations on the iTarget database
  4. Manage relationships with community groups and support their fundraising
  5. Monitor and report regularly on pledged and received income from community groups contributing to financial forecasts
  6. Keep up-to-date with trends in community giving to help plan future strategy.

Manage volunteers programme

  1. Design and implement a programme to recruit new volunteers from our membership and beyond to ensure that the Society is making the most of our volunteer activity
  2. Ensure that we maximise volunteer activity through management of volunteer database
  3. Keep in regular contact with active and inactive volunteers
  4. Manage volunteer participation in Scleroderma society events and activities.

Administration

  1. Administer the Society collection box programmes.
  2. Process donation reports from Justgiving etc, record donations onto iTarget
  3. Regularly check the Fundraising and Events email inboxes and respond to emails appropriately
  4. Ensure that volunteer and supporter records are kept current, accessible and usable and that Data Protection preferences are recorded as appropriate
  5. Ensure the maintenance of supporter records takes place in accordance with legislation, regulations and fundraising codes of practice.
