PROJECT OFFICER – CHILD AND FAMILY

Salary from $35.44 to $37.24 per hour

Temporary Part-time - 21 hours per weekuntil June 2016

(Note: Own car is essential for which a car allowance is provided)

This position promotes and supports the Families NSW Strategy, focusing on early intervention and prevention for children (antenatal to age 8) and their families. The project provides support, information and advice to mainstream child and family agencies as well as promoting collaborative approaches to maximise the utilisation and effectiveness of resources dedicated to providing support to families. Duties of this position include co-convene the child and family services interagencies in Fairfield, Bankstown and Liverpool; undertake tasks leading up to and resulting from each Interagency meeting; organise professional development sessions for child and family services workers based on identified needs.

Role Expectations:

  • Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Education, Applied Sciences or other relevant field; NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Essential:

  • Experience in
  • community work in the child and family field
  • working with diverse communities, including ethnic, religious, language, cultural and other forms of diversity
  • community development, working collaboratively with government and non-government organisations
  • planning, report writing and project evaluation
  • Excellent
  • organisational and time management skills; the ability to manage competing demands and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively relate to a wide range of people and facilitate training
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in using computers (Word, Publisher, Excel)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of child and family services in the Fairfield, Liverpool and Bankstown local government areas
  • Experience in planning and implementing community events
  • Understanding of, or experience in, working in local government
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment (EEO) obligations
