Section C - Scope of Duties
This position will contribute to the organisation functions and strategies by;
  • Providing Support to the National Disaster Management Office in as far as managing transportation and movement of duty staff to and from work and during work/operation
  • Maintenance of plant, Machineries, OBM/Canoes and NDMO vehicles

Section D - Key Duties
*The Officer will be required to:
  • Provide driving services to support on call/duty staff movements after hours and weekends.
  • During official hours to transports administration support staff runs errands for the office.
  • Maintain proper movement schedule and log/register vehicle movements.
  • Maintain proper records of fuel usage and ensuring that safe stock level of fuel supplies is maintained at the shed
  • Maintain and upkeep of the NDMO backup generator – regular checks of fuel level etc.
  • Maintain and upkeep of NDMO OBM/Canoes
  • Ensure regular servicing of NDMO Backup Generator, other machines and vehicles.
  • Maintain a daily vehicle checklist – monitoring of fuel , water levels, cleaning etc of vehicles
  • Report any defects to the Director immediately
  • Ensure that proper maintenance schedule is kept.
  • Other duties as may be required from time to time

Section E - Key Result Areas
*Successful performance of the duties will be indicated by:
  • Improved safety due to regular maintenance and upkeep of NDMO Vehicles.
  • Fuel usage monitored and control measures maintained.
  • NDMO Plants and machineries regularly maintained.
  • OBM/Canoes well maintained to ensure safety of officers using the assets.

Section G - Selection Criteria
Experience:
(a) Valid driving license with at least 10 years driving with clean records
(b) Experienced 4WD driver with some understanding of basic motor vehicle maintenance skills.
Knowledge:
(a) Excellent conceptual and analytical skills and a capacity to think strategically
(b) Understanding and a commitment to the provision of reliable services to support the operations
of the National Disaster Council
Skills and ability:
(a) Ability to understand and comply with the requirements of the National Disaster Council and its ethics.
(b) High level interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to convey concepts clearly and concisely and to manage relationships at NDMO with counterparts in other Ministries, NGOs and partners
Section H - Terms and Conditions
(a)Salary per fortnight: $605.39
(b)Salary per annum: $ $15,740.09
(c)Annual Leave: 25 working days
(d)Other conditions of service as outlined in the Agreement of Service upon appointment;
  1. Housing allowance-20% of basic or Housing Rental Scheme
