Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is a non-exempt position serving the cultural needs of the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Community with a special emphasis to work with the youth. Must maintain positive peer relationships and must be interested in the well-being of Tribal youth. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the following:

1.  Coordinates all activities of the Passages Program, a youth culture program.

2.  Provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of Passages program/project function.

3.  Serves as a principal liaison between students, staff, Tribal departments, and/or external constituencies on Passages day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues; facilitates meetings, special projects, and problem resolution.

4.  Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives.

5.  Monitors and administers Passages program/project revenues and expenses; any develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for the program.

6.  Writes, edits, and coordinates development of youth program promotional materials, educational materials, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.

7.  Collects and analyzes data; prepares schedules and special reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information.

8.  Performs or delegates clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.

9.  Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program.

10.  May perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishment of program objectives and protocol.

11.  May supervise and train lower level staff, student mentors, or volunteers, as appropriate.

12.  Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

1.  Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

2.  Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.

3.  Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.

4.  Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

5.  Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

6.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

7.  Ability to interact with students, and staff in a team environment.

8.  Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.

9.  Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.

10.  Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.

11.  Writing and editorial skills.

12.  Must maintain a good attendance record.

13.  Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work in office (75%) and outdoor (25%) environments; some light lifting, hiking, camping, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

1.  High School Diploma/GED required. Additional education in related field is preferred.

2.  Must have a valid state issued driver’s license at time of application and during employment.

3.  Experience working with middle school and high school youth is preferred.

4.  Must be able to establish and maintain supportive relationship with Coeur d’Alene Tribal members and staff.

5.  Must be able to pass an extensive background check with no legal restrictions and must be able to serve Coeur d’Alene Tribal members of all ages and gender.

6.  Knowledge of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe customs and traditions is preferred.

7.  Proven experience working in an office environment.

8.  Must work flexible hours and days to meet the needs of the program.

9.  Independent coordination of all day-to-day aspects of program.

10.  Program planning, implementation, and monitoring.

11.  Implementation of effective operational/administrative policies and procedures specific to the achievement of the objectives of the program.

12.  Writing, editing, and publication of marketing, promotional, and/or educational materials and integrated reports specific to the program.

13.  Day-to-day team interaction with, liaison between, and coordination of a wide range of internal and external constituencies involved in program activities.

14.  Planning, preparation, and management of program budgets and expenditures.

15.  Must not have been convicted of a felony involving dishonesty within the past five years.
