SUMMARY:

In partnership with local and ISD curriculum, media and technology departments, this position is charged with empowering teachers to teach and leaders to lead using media and technology resources through: in classroom support/coaching as teachers incorporate current and new media and technology resources into instruction; facilitation of professional learning experiences for staff (key leaders as well as teachers) on relevant and meaningful topics in media and technology resources; and empowering instructional and technology leaders to incorporate media and technology resources into school – from leadership to classroom.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide leadership and training to LISD staff and local district teachers on the development and use of educational technology including online instruction.

Provide professional support to LISD coordinators on integration of ISTE Standards for Students,Teachers, and Administrators and current technologies for teaching and learning.

Motivate area educators in the use, integration and appropriate application of media and educational technologies using a variety of instructional methods.

Plan and provide individual support to local district educational and technology leadership through empowering them with ideas on how to incorporate media and technology resources into school – from leadership to classroom, including developing standards, effective project planning, evaluation, and recommending/implementing necessary improvements.

Collaborate (through mentoring and modeling) with area educators on the planning, conducting and evaluating of learning activities which integrate media and technology resources within multiple learning styles.

Serve on and support Cradle to Career (C2C) Customized Learning Committee and other initiatives that develop.

Lead and support teachers throughout the Lenawee County in use of resources and techniques for transforming their classrooms and educational environments in ways that emphasize creativity and innovation, such as Maker Movement,Virtual Learning, and other emerging trends.

Plan and facilitate workshops for local educators (key leaders as well as teachers) on relevant and meaningful topics in media and technology resources, including but not limited to online learning, video conferencing, streaming video, digital media, and mobile technology.

Communicate to districts on educational technology services/needs; assessing and meeting districts’ current needs as well as looking to future needs to meet upcoming trends.

Coordinate and communicate projects with local school districts, TECH Center, REMC and local leadership teams.

Collaborate with technology curriculum, instruction and assessment specialists in planning and providing professional learning opportunities.

Introduce, publicize and encourage the use of available learning resources and technologies through use of social media, publications, newsletters, electronic presentations, and ISD web site.

Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of the research and best practices of the field of educational technology (informational and instructional technologies as well as leadership).

Work closely with REMC/RITS on educational technology projects

Liaison with various vendors related to services provided.

Fulfill duties of role as Project Lead for Canvas LMS including daily help ticket support for requests initiated by Canvas users, attend regular Canvas support calls, communicate with LISD data services staff for coordination of student enrollments through SIS integration, schedule/provide training and classroom support as needed

Provide training to county educations on instructional technology, technology planning, and technology policies.

Stay abreast of new information/developments by attending meetings,conferences, classes, in-services, etc., reading professional literature, and connecting with other technology experts and networks.

Maintain a positive and cooperative manner in all services performed.

Assume other responsibilities and performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree
  • Minimum five (5) years teaching experience in K-12 environment
  • Three years of experience providing staff (teacher and administration) coaching and training in the area of educational media and technology
  • Demonstrated record of initiative, creativity and leadership in educational technology [and using data to inform instruction]
  • Knowledge of state and national requirements for technology use in schools

Recommended:

  • Considerable knowledge of adult learning styles, educational technology and professional learning communities
  • Experience in creating and facilitating online learning experiences using a learning management system such as Canvas,
  • Educational Technology certificate
  • Course work and/or experience in Educational Technology, which includes documented, demonstrated, current knowledge of desktop computers, mobile devices for learning, peripheral equipment, digital video editing, network connections, voice/video/data signal transmissions, social media, Maker Movement and STEM applications for the classroom and other current emerging trends

Preferred:

  • Master of Art’s Degree in Technology or related field
