POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for performing specialized duties in support of general recruitment activities including high school functions, businesses and community organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field of the position, and sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, or Associate’s Degree with two years of paid work experience in Student Services/Recruitment, or High School diploma or equivalent and four years of paid work experience in Student Services/Recruitment.
· Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

· $35,842.37/annual salary

External Affairs FLSA Duties: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing specialized duties in support of general recruitment activities including high school functions, businesses and community organizations.
MAJOR DUTIES
Move on When Ready/Dual Enrollment
· Participates in the advisement of students to reach their academic goals.
· Assists with collaborations and coordinating of the development/coordination of MOWR schedules each semester and adds additional programs if needed.
· Processes new student applications.
· Advises student groups.
General Recruitment
· Conducts information sessions for prospective students to include meetings at high schools, businesses, community organizations and college fairs, etc.
· Assists with planning and implementing student recruitment activities to include campus tours, material mailings; maintains records; assist with providing information to External Affairs to support social media platforms, serves as the technical college representative at college recruitment functions including businesses and community organizations.
Administrative/Customer Service
· Assists with the interpretations and entering of college and high school transcripts.
· Answers application processing questions for new students.
· Answers community inquiries from email and phone calls.
· Assists with writing and updating student information materials.
· Assists faculty with student issues with registration, advisement and academics.
· Submits monthly activity report.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
· Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary high school, technical education and CTC programs of study.
· Knowledge of college admissions requirements, including College Credit Now program, and general information for potential CTC students.
· Knowledge of related state and federal regulations.
· Skill to work cooperatively with community and business leaders, students, faculty and staff.
· Skill to make timely decisions.
· Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
· Skill in decision making and problem solving.
· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
· Skill in oral and written communication.
· General knowledge of the financial aid process, including scholarships and grants.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include the Chattahoochee Technical College policies and procedures and TCSG, DOE, financial aid (including grants and scholarships), applicable federal and state legislation, and College Credit Now programs. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
· The work consists of varied specialized duties. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position.
· The purpose of this position is to provide specialized support for external affairs functions. Success in this position contributes to the recruitment and retention of students and the efficient and effective operation of campus programs.

· Contacts are typically with students, faculty, staff, college administrators, and members of the general public.
· Contacts are typically to motivate or influence persons, to resolve problems, to give or exchange information, or to provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
· The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
· Spending time in high schools, businesses, community groups and non-profits.
· The work is typically performed in an office.
