IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist external and internal customers with the selection, purchase and service of hardware: 90%

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Customer Service (External & Internal)
  2. Represent SBL in a positive and professional manner
  3. Assist customers and sales staff with the selection (and purchase) of hardware
  4. Greet walk-in customer and answer telephones
  5. Recommend and provide advice on a variety of products and services
  6. Enter material list into computer
  7. Special order products from vendor catalogs
  8. Process customer payment
  1. Orders
  2. Assemble hardware orders for delivery
  3. Enter orders into computer (ESC – Pro)
  4. Fill orders
  5. Process returns and customer credits
  6. Process internal requisitions and transfers
  7. Receive Hardware and Internal SPO items
  1. Communication
  2. Follow-up with customer regarding items order for delivery
  3. Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and products
  4. Communicate with Dispatch regarding delivery times

4. Inventory

a. Monitor stock level and order materials as needed

b. Assist in semi-annual counting

c. Merchandise material and literature throughout store

  1. Locks

a Key, pick and re-key locks

b Cut keys

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. 1 – 3 years hardware experience preferred
  3. Previous experience in Sales preferred
  4. Previous experience in Lumber Industry preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Excellent customer service skills (both internal and external customers)
  2. Knowledge of building materials as well as hardware materials and their uses
  3. Excellent communication skills using verbal, written, and listening skills
  4. Ability to read / interpret blueprints
  5. Ability to troubleshoot and solve concerns using creative means
  6. Excellent organization skills and time management skills
  7. Computer literate and ability to learn other computer programs (Microsoft Word, ESC-Pro)
  8. Ability to access and understand resources available within the industry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to stand for the majority of the work day
  2. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and twisting
  3. Ability to lift 30 lbs. regularly (75 occasionally)
  4. Ability to grasp and manipulate objects
  5. Frequent use of hands and wrist required for computer use
  6. Ability to climb and balance on a ladder

ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Majority of work occurs in Office / Warehouse Environment
