Position: Grace Covenant Ministries Executive Director

Job Purpose: The Executive Director is responsible to lead and manage Grace Covenant Ministries (GCM)according to the direction set by its Collegiate Consistory and the Annville Institute Board of Directors.

Competencies and Related Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Participate with the Collegiate Consistory(CC) and the Annville Institute(AI) Board of Directors in developing a strategic ministry plan (vision, mission, goals, and action steps) to guide all aspects of the ministry.
  • Identify, assess and inform the CC and AI Board of Directors of issues that affect the ministry.
  • Serve as an advisor to the CC and AIBoard of Directors on all aspects of the ministry, including: preferred strategies and resolutions to matters under consideration.
  • Develop and foster effective team work between her/himself and the CC, AIBoard of Directors and support staff, andGrace Covenant Ministries'Churches and Contracted Pastors.
  • Represent Grace Covenant Ministries, its CC and AIBoard of Directors, as an ambassador and spokesperson with the supporting churches, volunteers, general public and media.
  • Ensure on-going programmatic excellence and evaluation.

Financial Planning and Management

  • Work with the CC, AIBoard of Directors and staff to prepare a budget(s)to meet the projected financial ministry needs.
  • Work with CC and AIBoard of Directors to generate and secure sufficient funding to support program operations.
  • Oversees the fundraising activities and campaigns including, but not limited to,support from the RCA, individual church mission shares, individual fiscal partners, and research and write grants to support the ministry goals.
  • Administer ministry funds, using sound bookkeeping and accounting practices, according to the approved budget(s).
  • Provide the CC and AIBoard of Directors with quarterly financial reports reflecting all fiscal transactions.
  • Ensure that the ministry complies with all legislation covering taxation and withholding payment.

Program and Operations Management

  • Coordinates all Grace Covenant Ministries programs and activities including, but not limited to, joint worship services, ministry activities, development of outposts, and

relationship with non-RCA churches.

  • Provides general oversight and day-to-day monitoring of the planning, implementation and evaluation of all Annville Institute programs and services.
  • Ensure that the programs and services reflect the priorities of the CC and AI Board of Directors, and are aligned with, and contribute to, the ministry plan.
  • Provides for the management of Annville Institute as to property rentals, maintenance, repairs and general upkeep.
  • Build partnerships and establish relationships with all ministry stakeholders, including: donors, volunteers, community leaders, Reformed Church in America--General Synod Council and Engaging in Christ Kingdom Mission, and GCM Member Churches.
  • Develop procedures and strategies to evaluate ministry components so that outcomes can be effectively communicated to the CC, AI Board of Directors, and Grace Covenant Ministries (GCM) Member Churches.
  • Ensure that the files of all personnel, donors and volunteers are securely stored and confidentiality maintained.

Human Resources Planning and Management for Annville Institute

  • Establish a non-coercive, caring and safe work environment.
  • Determine staffing requirements for successful program and operational delivery.
  • Oversee the implementation of the human resource policies and procedures, including the development of job descriptions for the Annville InstituteStaff which reflect a team approach and appropriate level delegation of responsibility for carrying out its day-to-day programs and operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance, and conduct performance assessment conferences on a scheduled basis with all AI staff members.
  • Recruit, interview and hire personnel as approved by the CC and AI Board of Directors.
  • Provide orientation, training, mentoring and resources to ensure and improve staff performance.
  • Discipline and/or remove staff when necessary using appropriate and legal procedures.
  • Arrange for and coordinate the work of volunteers--individuals, churches and organizations.

Communication and Public Relations

  • Communicate with all stakeholders to keep them informed and up-to-date on all aspects of the ministry.
  • Use proficient writing skills to communicate through memos, reports, letters, news articles and emails.
  • Develop attractive marketing skills to generate collaborative efforts and create a network of local and nationwide support from among RCA Churches, denominational and/or unaffiliated churches, and organizations.
  • Maintain a positive public image and good reputation with stakeholders by issuing periodic reports on the current and potential impact of those served by Grace Covenant Ministries/Annville Institute.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (MBA preferred) or related field of Christian Non-Profit Ministries, including ministerial education.

Years of Related Work Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of proven results in building a ministry and/or organization, and achieving results.

Church Affiliation

  • Membership in one of the three local RCA Churches of Jackson County .

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strategic and visionary leadership skills to influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the ministry.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and management related to Christian non-profit ministries and/or organizations.
  • Ability to plan and manage programs and operational strategies that move the ministry forward and enable it to become effective and efficient in fulfilling its vision and achieving its goals.
  • Knowledge and skill in the areas of personnel management, human relationships, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to effectively speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and appropriate manner.
