Position: Elementary School Teachers (Grade 2, Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7)

Worksite: BC Offshore School - BCCIS-Cairo

Contract Term: Full time, two years

Certification: Candidates must be a BC certified or certifiable teacher

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas at the primary/early intermediate level
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the BC Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment practices
  • knowledge of BC curriculum and demonstrated ability to teach all subject areas at the elementary level
  • knowledge of and experience in using effective strategies to support the direct instruction of literacy skills in a Balanced Literacy framework (i.e. Guided Reading, Writing, Oral Language and Thinking Skills)
  • training and experience in successfully using a variety of resources to teach Numeracy
  • demonstrated ability to use a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction
  • demonstrated willingness to work as part of a planning team
  • strong technology skills and the ability to apply them as an instructional tool to support learning in an elementary classroom
  • knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing a wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of children
  • excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
  • excellent classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
  • willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration
  • willingness to contribute to a positive school culture by volunteering in extracurricular activities
  • is well-balanced and is flexible so that one can adapt to differences in everyday life
  • demonstrates an understanding of cultural diversity and is flexible with respect living in Egypt
  • has a sense of adventure and an interest in contributing to the success of BCCIS

BCCIS is a BC Offshore School that is accredited by the BC Ministry of Education. BC certified teachers teach the BC curriculum that leads to a BC Dogwood Graduation Diploma.
