POSITION: Electrical Engineer DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager STATUS: Exempt

Position Summary: Electrical Engineer designs electrical systems by developing and testing components.

Primary job duties and responsibilities:

·  Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

·  Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods: testing properties.

·  Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements: researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.

·  Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods: testing finished products and system capabilities.

·  Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.

·  Completes projects by training and guiding technicians

·  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Work Relationships and Scope: Electrical Engineer will have expertise across multiple technologies in both staff and plant environments and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively provide work direction to a broad range of team members. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Performance Dimensions: Must be accessible and responsive to the paper production needs and concerns of management and employees. Must possess ability to gain the trust and respect of management and employees. Must maintain and comply with all governmental record keeping and administration requirements. Soundness of decisions made regarding policies and procedures. Must maintain the integrity of confidential employment and business information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Will possess a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University. Strong experience with Electronics Troubleshooting, Electronic Systems, Electronic Testing Design, analyzing information, project management and quality focus. Must be able to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.

Working Conditions: Work is performed at times in an office environment; however a great amount of time will be spent on the plant floor with the employees where a large exposure to injury exists. Hours of work will be determined by department manager/supervisor generally during regular business hours and average at least 50 hours a week. There may be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel is required for business and education, by air and auto.
