Position: Store Manager

Division/Dept: Northern Images

Reporting to: Division Manager, Marketing

Position Summary:

The store manager is responsible for managing and controlling the overall day-to-day administration, operation, co-ordination, and control of all aspects of the profitable operation of the Northern Images facility, in accordance with approved financial and operational plans.

Working closely with the Manager of the Marketing Division, the Northern Images store manager will provide management leadership in the short and long term planning of the operation in order to successfully meet the stated mission and objectives, which include the expansion of art marketing of member-produced art. Key areas of accountability include financial performance of the retail operation, training and development of the local staff, and providing excellent retail customer service. The store manager must also provide strong direction in sales, inventory, store merchandising, cash transfer administration, payroll and human resource management, to ensure the efficient and professional operation of the gallery.

Duties and Responsibilities

-  Oversee the effective operation of Northern Images retail store sales, with a focus on achievement of gross margin and net earnings, as well as maximizing the sale of member produced art and craft items.

-  Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of retail sales and marketing program and ensure targets are met as per annual budget plan.

-  Ensure optimal staffing levels by overseeing recruitment, training, orientation and day to day management of staff in consultation with Division Manager, Marketing and the Human Resources Department of ACL

-  Develop operating budgets and reports, and ensure budgeted targets regarding controllable expenses are maintained.

-  Coordinate and oversee the implementation and maintenance of customer services, security, housekeeping, and maintenance in accordance with corporate policy.

- Maintain optimal customer service through regular communication with customers, suppliers, and corporate office personnel in order to maintain the successful operation of the retail facility.

Qualifications

-  Proven background in retail sales and marketing management

-  Previous retail accounting & computer based POS system experience

-  Superior interpersonal and written communication skills

-  Proficient with PC applications (MS Office Suite)

-  Previous experience in a gallery setting or in the purchase of arts and crafts is ideal.
