Position Title: Health and Wellness Supervisor
Reports To: Clinical Director
Common Purpose
Responsible for positively and effectively, contributing to the Mission and Vision of Thorpe Recovery Centre. Be willing to cooperate with employees, students and volunteers in translating our purpose into our programs and services in a manner that serves our clients’ needs. Responsibly support and model the Philosophy and Policies of Thorpe Recovery Centre, referred to in the remainder of this document as ‘TRC’.
Nature and Scope
The Health and Wellness Supervisor is responsible for the effective coordination, supervision and program delivery for the Detox, Transition and Residential programs. This position supervises the Addiction Administrator and Addiction Support Worker staff to ensure that appropriate clinical systems, program delivery, daily operations and practices are in place in order to facilitate effective treatment for clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision:
· Responsible for the supervision, budgeting and staffing for the Addiction Administrator and Addiction Support Worker roles.
· Responsible for identifying and carrying out ongoing training needs for the department.
· Establishes work schedules, enters, reviews and approves timecards for reporting staff.
· Motivates, inspires and influences staff to their maximum performance and potential.
· Participates in the hiring process of new employees. Provides the coordination of on boarding, training and updates for staff orientation.
· Provides ongoing feedback and annual performance evaluations to direct reports.
· Reviews, analyzes and follows up with staffing needs on an ongoing basis.
· Attends residential staff meetings and works with management to ensure appropriate communication is maintained amongst departments and within the staff team.
Program Coordination:
· Plans, implements and evaluates internal and external recreation programs focusing on: emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual needs of the clients.
· Works with management and staff to ensure that integrated, holistic and consistent care is provided in order to meet the needs of the clients.
· Coordinates the clients’ daily activities and ensures that staff is properly trained in program delivery as well as appropriate client therapeutic relationships.
· Evaluates the effectiveness of the health and recreation programs offered to clients.
· Adapts recreation programs to meet the various needs and abilities of clients at TRC.
· Ensures that TRC’s external user groups are coordinated amongst the staff.
· Oversees the purchases and program inventory for supplies for activities.
· Provides assistance and relief for the direct delivery of programming as required.
Other Duties:
· Provides the necessary department structures to meet Accreditation Canada standards.
· Works with management to ensure proper risk management and safety procedures are followed for: the centre, program offerings, events and client outings.
· Ensures that the safety of all participants, staff and volunteers is maintained.
· Provides administrative services to ensure effective operations for program offerings.
· Responsible for maintaining current departmental policies and procedures.
· Develops and manages ongoing relations with external stakeholders as deemed necessary.
· Reviews, investigates and resolves client concerns relating to program offerings.
· Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
· Bachelor’s Degree in one of the related fields including: Psychology or Social Work.
· Three to five years experience leading and supervising staff.
· Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
· First Aid, CPR ‘C’, AED and Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST Training).
· Ability to display a high degree of initiative and commitment towards coordinating client activities to support the recovery process.
· Effective conflict resolution, problem solving and people management skills.
· Ability to coordinate, prioritize and follow through on multiple projects and tasks.
· Class five driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract.
· A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability.
· A demonstrated interest in recovery coupled with knowledge of the 12 step program and recovery process would be considered an asset.
· Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire.
