POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Economic Development Director, Corporate Training
- This is a full-time position at the North Metro Campus.
- Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus. All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the college’s Economic Development activities in the area of Business and Industry/Corporate training and sales as well as continuing education classes, TANF and other associated programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Baccalaureate degree required in a course of study related to the occupational field. .
- Three to five years experience in sales and training, including but not limited to technical and/or leadership training in a corporate setting.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Resides in one of Chattahoochee Technical College’s service area counties.

Economic DevelopmentDirector–Corporate Training ED/03
Economic Development FLSA Status: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the college’s Economic Development activities in the area of Business and Industry/Corporate training and sales as well as continuing education classes, TANF and other associated programs
MAJOR DUTIES
- Works with industries from the governor’s strategic initiatives to develop training programs that might include both noncredit and credit.
- Promotes, develops, and implements partnerships with service area industries and other organizations in support of the governor’s strategic industries.
- Develops a strategic plan for the corporate training division of Economic Development.
- Develops the pipeline of new businesses seeking the training and services offered by economic development division of CTC.
- Prepares and administers budgets for corporate training programs in alignment with the overall division budget.
- Develops new programs in accordance with company needs and industry standards (i.e. certified production technician, certified logistics technicians, etc.).
- Serves as the primary salesperson for the training and services offered by the Economic Development division of CTC.
- Tracks corporate visits and develop a system to market and follow-up with clients.
- Serves on community boards and committees to assist in the development of business/industry relationships.
- Serves as a liaison between economic development and CTC’s community engagement teams.
- Works with division dean and academic faculty to develop cross over programs with the academic credit side to meet community/ business/industry needs (such as TCCs).
- Supervises coordinators and assistants in the implementation of training programs.
- Develops marketing materials needed for corporate training programs.
- Develops policy and procedures for economic development-corporate training work unit.
- Develops all primary functional goals and specific objectives for the department.
- Establishes fiscal goals for the corporate training area of the division.
- Cultivates and promotes positive and substantive relationships with local business and industry.
- Serves as a leader of and an advocate for the college within the external community; plan, develop, organize and implement the goals and objectives of the assigned functions.
- Designs, organizes, markets, and presents tours, trade missions, seminars, workshops, meetings, banquets, conferences, etc., to promote economic and community development activities.
- Develops contracts between client organizations, contract talent, and the college to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance for products and services delivered.
- Trains, directs and supervises the work of assigned personnel.
- Involvement in community.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Vice President for Community and Economic Developmentassigns work in terms of programgoals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports and observation of program activities.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include the State Board of Technical and Adult Education Policy and Procedures Manual, Chattahoochee Technical College policies and procedures,OSHA standards, MSHA training standards, wage and hour laws, and other applicable federal and state legislation, policy and guidelines. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied administrative, management and supervisory duties. The need to coordinate activity with a diverse set of external entities contributes to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to direct the economic development programs of the college. Success in this position ensures contributes to a well trained and employable local workforce.

Contacts are typically with students, faculty, staff, college administrators, state and local economic developers, business and industry officials and managers, and members of the general public.Contacts are typically to motivate or influence persons, to resolve problems, or to justify, defend or negotiate matters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while standing or walking. The employee frequently lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise and machinery with moving parts.
- The work involves frequent travel throughout the service area.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position has direct supervision over an ED assistant and business and industry instructor/coordinators (2).
