PONY CLUB NEWSLETTER 12th JUNE

Hello everyone, The PC eventing season is well and truly underway – and there are lots of competitions coming up in the next few weeks. Pippa Patrick is our Eventing Team Manager so if you have any questions please get in touch with her.

Details of the camp meeting are also in this edition, and a lovely write up of the Belvoir Team Sj which took place last month - thank you Amelie.

I hope that everyone has survived the dreaded exams which are just about finished now – and hopefully the weather will be improving soon so you can concentrate on the most important part of life – riding.

See you all soon Liz

Blenheim Eventer Trial

As mentioned in the last newsletter we are planning to enter a team in the Blenheim Eventer Challenge in September at Blenheim International Horse Trials, near Oxford. This is a very prestigious competition and we are looking for members interested in coming to the team selection trials. You need to be confidently competing at 1m plus showjumping/eventing as it is a stiff track comprising about 12 showjumps followed by about 10 XC fences (all very technical) and then a final SJ to finish. The date is Friday 15th Sept and you will get free entry to the event so can watch the top eventers competing in the 3* dressage; retail therapy round all the trade stands and have a great day out.

Please can you let Pippa Patrick know ASAP if you are interested and available to go. Selection and training will be taking place in July and August when the exams are all over.

SHOW JUMPING REPORTS

Belvoir Team SJ - 30th May 2017

On the 30th May our Pony Club travelled to Arena U.K. To take part in an Area 6 Team SJ competition. When I arrived at the gates of Arena UK I was buzzing and couldn't wait to get going with my team.

Soon after we arrived our 75cm team Hannah Lambert (Connie)Neve Edwards(Sparky) Sam Curry (Archie) and myself (Peanut) walked the course. At 10.30am we tacked up our ponies and were ready to go!! The class was running late , but that wasn't a problem we walked round the arena to pass the time discussing tactics.

Despite the delays we still went out and performed our very best. Everyone did really well. I was really pleased with Peanut who flew and helped me go double clear. Before we knew it the competition was over, sadly the team didn't get placed, but as a team we were all happy and proud that we and our ponies got round and finished . Overall it was a fun day with lots of learning with an amazing team.

A big thank you to our parents for taking us and to Sam Illingworth for organising the teams and supporting us.

Belvoir Team SJ - 30th May 2017

We had such a great day at Arena UK - the weather was gorgeous, the arenas and show jumping courses were fabulous - we had 2 teams in the ribbons - the 80cm team came 5th with just 3 riders - Jessie Elfleet, Amy Shaw and Abi Skelton.

The 90cm team came 2nd, Abi Skelton, Lucy York, Maja JohnsonWard and Hannah Bent - both these classes had huge entries so very well done teams!!!

Our 75cm team all rode very well and had big smiles of most of the day even though they had to wait....and wait.....and wait...... and they showed great team spirit throughout the day!

Our big teams.. 1.05m - no ribbons but some great riding round a meaty course - 2 teams gave their all - Barlow Reds - Lucy York, Maja Johansson-Ward and Hannah Bent and Barlow Blues - Ben Patrick, Barney Newome and Holly Illingworth.

The Hickstead Qualifier - this was a huuuuge course and a tight time - some great rounds from Katie Patrick, Barney Newsome, Holly Illingworth and Ben Patrick!!

A very long day but well spent with some lovely members and their parents- thank you all for supporting each other and helping make up some fab teams to represent our branch - very proud for you all!!

The camp meeting for both min and senior camp will be held at Holmsfield Village Hall on 12th July.

Senior Camp is now full – although I am keeping a waiting list and we are trying to get extra stables.

Time is drawing closer to the 3 day mini madness camp. If you are planning on coming to mini madness, we really do need your slips, forms, payment and whatever else we may need. I have lots of planning, creating, buying, building etc etc to do and need to know how many Mad Mexican Minis are coming to join in all sorts of fun (and learning, of course). Slips to Becky Jubb please asap. Thank you. Cath
