Pond 3 on 3 League Rules

  1. All Pond games are NO Checking At ALL Levels.
  1. No off-sides or icing
  1. Face offs will occur only at the beginning of a game, or when the puck leaves the ice surface.
  1. Tag ups: All players will be required to tag up to the red line individually following any goal or frozen puck by a goaltender. In the case that the puck gets caught up in the net or in the goaltenders equipment the referee may hold the attacking players in the neutral zone so that the opposing team has the opportunity to gain full possession prior to the attacking team being allowed to forecheck again.
  1. Penalties: All penalties will result in a “pursuit” penalty shot. The player who is awarded the penalty shot will start with the puck at center ice on the referees signal that player will begin his penalty shot the remaining players from both teams will be positioned at the far blue line on one knee. Once the shooter hits the near blue line the remaining players can begin pursuit of the shooter. If the shooter fails to score the play will be “live” to the remaining players. If the goalie freezes the puck the attacking must tag up to the red line and play will resume.
  1. Officials: Any verbal abuse of officials will not be tolerated, if you have any questions or concerns our officials will be glad to answer them. Please remember that there is a lot of incidental contact that occurs in pursuit of the puck at the mite level. The officials have been instructed to call any and all checking that may occur.
  1. Scheduling: Any game rescheduling will be done at the discretion of The Pond two weeks in advance of game, decisions are based on the availability of ice time as well as referee’s. If a team does not show up for a game, they forfeit that game. Changes to the schedule are very challenging to coordinate. Coach or Manager must coordinate game change with opposing team and then request the change via email . The Master Ice Schedule is online under our Schedule tab – It shows the most up to date game times.
  1. There should be no league game that ever has a goal differential of more than (6) six goals, unless both teams have agreed to let all goals count in lower divisions. If a game is lopsided here are a few steps to create a fairer contest:
  1. Make the team that is ahead circle the net after every stoppage in play.
  2. Add a player to the team who is behind
  3. Have the teams switch goalie.

The Pond reserves the right to adjust or change rules as needed at any time. Final say of any discrepancies will be at the discretion of the Referee and/or Rink Manager.
