Optional Oral Communication Exercise – Group Discussion
Your facilitator will determine whether you participate in this exercise.
Effective oral communication is about more than just listening and speaking. It is also dependent on elements such as facial expressions, body language, eye contact, using appropriate words, responding well, encouraging others and many more …….
In this exercise, you will participate in a group discussion about the scenario described below. Your facilitator will let you know how long the discussion will last.
Scenario
You have started in a middle management role after a rigorous interview process. After starting you discover that the person who had been ‘acting’ in the role for the last few months had expected to get the job. This person continually undermines you and turns other staff against you. What should you do?
