Policy for Weddings at San Felipe de Neri Parish, Albuquerque
Wedding
- The wedding will promptly begin at the designated time.
- Modest dress that is appropriate for Sunday Mass is required by all who
part in the wedding. If strapless gowns have already been chosen, shawls
need to be added. The shoulders and chest of the women should be
covered.
- The Blessed Sacrament is always reserved in the church. Be respectful
and genuflect towards the Blessed Sacrament when entering, exiting from the pews.
- Rice, birdseed, confetti, flower petals, etc. are not allowed inside nor outside
of the church.
- Presentation of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Unity Candle, Arras,
Lasso may be incorporated into the wedding liturgy. All this should be
discussed prior to the wedding rehearsal.
- Candles and candelabras are not allowed.
- Tacks, nails, tape and sticky substances are not allowed on the pews or walls.
plastic pew clips or ribbon may be used to attach bows or flowers to the
pews.
- Arches and arbors are not allowed.
- Fresh flower arrangements are allowed in front of the altar and
in front of the ambo. (Artificial flowers may not be used.)
- Parish floral arrangements and plants may not be removed or rearranged.
- An aisle runner is not allowed for safety reasons.
- A bridal room is not available. A handkerchief is advisable for the bride
and groom.
- It is the responsibility of the wedding party to pickup and trash or debris left in the
church after the ceremony. Please do not leave boxes, paper, tissues etc.
- Choirs that know liturgical music must be used. All choirs and Mariachis
shall be approved by the pastor. Pre-recorded music may not be used.
- Food, drink, and gum are not allowed in the church.
Wedding Rehearsal
- The wedding rehearsal will promptly begin at the designated time.
- The wedding rehearsal will not take place if the parish does not have the marriage
license in possession, or if any of the of the required documents
have not been obtained to complete the marriage file.
- Everyone who is going to have a part in the wedding liturgy should attend the
rehearsal (attendants, lectors, gift bearers).
- Proper church attire is required. The church is a place of prayer and proper
decorum must be maintained by all.

- The normal order of procession is:
Altar Server (optional)
Priest, Deacon, or Priest and Deacon (optional)
Groom and his parents
Groomsmen
Best Man
Bridesmaid
Maid of Honor
Ring Bearer (if any)
Flower Girl (if any)
Bride and her parents
If the parents are not to be a part of the procession, they should be seated
before the procession begins.
- It is your responsibility to share the parish policies to the photographer,
videographer and musicians.
- Catholics must go to confession prior to the rehearsal.
Reminders
- Parking in Old Town can be a challenge. Inform your guests about the situation,
encourage them to plan ample time for parking.
- The church is the house of God and a place of prayer. Please remind your
attendants and guests to maintain a respectful silence and decorum in the church.
Visiting and conversations not related to the wedding should take place outside of
of the church.
- The fees for a wedding at San Felipe should be paid at least one month prior to
the wedding date. The fee is not a facilities rental fee.
- Stipends to choirs and musicians should be discussed with them directly and
paid to them prior to the wedding.
- It is customary to give the clergy who presides at your wedding a stipend on the
day of the wedding.
