GENERAL INFORMATION

Theme: Poetry Came In Search of Me

From September 24 to 27, 2015, Scarborough Arts celebratesCulture DayswithPoetry Came In Search of Me*,an event series curated by Anna Nieminen that features free weekend-long poetry events at the Bluffs Gallery including poem-a-thons, interactive workshops, readings, and lectures by esteemed guest writers; and a poetry walk at the Agincourt Library in affiliation with Jane's Walk and the Toronto Public Library.

We will alsobe featuring a visual and literary arts exhibition at the Bluffs Gallery from September 14 to October 11, 2015, andwe arelooking for visual and literary artworks that respond to Pablo Neruda's poem,Poetry(find the poemhere) -- however you interpret it. We encourage submissions in all media -- whether it's painting, sculpture, short film, installation, short story, or poem!

Application Deadline: Friday, September 4, 205 at 5 pm
Late entries will not be considered.

Exhibition Dates: September 14 to October 11, 2015

Exhibition Location: The Bluffs Gallery, 1859 Kingston Road

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 24, 2015

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

·  Scarborough Arts members and non-members of are invited to submit pieces respond to Poetry Came In Search of Me by Pablo Neruda (find the poem here).

·  For visual art submissions, we ask that you send us digital images of your artworks in jpeg format, each not exceeding 72 dpi and 1 MB. Please do not submit original pieces of artwork with your initial application.

·  For literary submissions, please send us your pieces in a Word document.

·  Name files as: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_TITLEOFPIECE (e.g. SMITH_JANE_THEAPPLE).

·  Please include a copy of a completed Application Form with your submissions. Ensure that all fields are filled out clearly and properly. Incomplete Application Forms will not be considered.

·  Email all submissions to with the subject line: POETRY CAME IN SEARCH OF ME

·  Each artist may submit up to two (2) separate pieces of artwork for consideration.

·  All submissions must be original and must be the creation of the entrant.

·  The visual artworks must be family-friendly and appropriate for a general audience.

·  Scarborough Arts may use images of accepted work/s for promotional purposes of this exhibition.

·  Scarborough Arts retains a 20% commission on all work sold during the exhibition.

·  All works must be hang- and/or display-ready at the time of drop-off (framed, wired, etc.) Please include your name, contact information, and the title of the piece at the back of every submission.

·  Accepted work must be delivered to the Scarborough Arts office (1859 Kingston Road) from Tuesday, September 8 to Thursday, September 10, 2015 between 10 am to 5 pm.

·  Accepted work must be retrieved from the Scarborough Arts office (1859 Kingston Road) between Tuesday, October 13 until Thursday, October 15, 2015 between 10 am to 5 pm.
