Rosmini Community School operates a policy of equal opportunity for all who wish to access second level education in accordance with the provisions of the 1998 Education Act. This means that students have an equal right to attend the school irrespective of gender or ability, within the admissions criteria set out by the Board of Management of Rosmini Community School hereunder.

Offers of placement are contingent upon the availability of appropriate educational resources in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills and the application of nationally agreed class sizes. Offers are also subject to parental/guardian signed acceptance of compliance with the school code of discipline.

Admissions Criteria

  1. The minimum age for placement requires that a successful applicant should be

at least 12 years of age on the 1st January in the year they start second level education in order to be registered in a post-primary school.

  1. Visually impaired applicants will be offered placement where resources appropriate to their educational needs are provided for by the Department of Education and Science and the school can provide an appropriate curriculum/course.
  1. The formal placement process begins with the first Intake Assessment, which takes place in the final week of October each year. The Intake Assessment determines the most appropriate provision required to meet the educational needs of applicants seeking placement beginning the 1st of September of the following Calendar year.
  1. The receipt of an application form or completion of the Intake Assessment is not a guarantee of a place in the school.
  1. The Board of Management from time to time may not be in a position to offer placement where there are inadequate resources to meet an applicant's educational needs or when there is not a suitable programme for the student to follow.
