Weather near this fire:: Fire Weather Watch to Friday 5:00am PST
Today: Partly cloudy. Isolated thunderstorms. Southeast wind 3 mph. High 100.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Chance of thunderstorms. Southwest wind 9 mph. Low 62.
Friday: Partly cloudy. Slight chance of thunderstorms. Northwest wind 12 mph. High 94.

Synopsis:Strong high pressure and warm dry airmass remains over the PacNW. An upper leveldisturbance well off the Calif coast is expected to track slowly northeastward across the region today and Friday. This will result in lightning mainly in Oregontoday and Eastern Washington andextreme eastern Oregon on Friday. At least some of the storms are expected to be dry.

The surface thermal trough is also expected to lie in the vicinity of the east slopes of the Cascades the nextcouple of days and will result in low level instability in those areas. Another weak upper trough will movethrough region on Saturday.

Large Fire Potential: The risk for large fire activity will be high over parts of eastern Oregon and easternWashingtontoday and Friday due to dry fuels and lightning. For now expect the highest risk on Thursdayto be closer to the Oregon Cascades with only isolated lightning farther east. On Friday the risk shifts farthernorth and farther east. In addition, low level instability due to a thermal trough could cause elevated firebehavior on current large fire activity in C2 (Wolfe Pt Fire).
