COURSE PLAN

Rationale

The ministry program at CincinnatiChristianUniversity seeks to produce, through education and training, vocational and avocational church leaders. Vocational leaders will be expected to communicate from the pulpit. Preaching is not only a major part of the church program; it is the method God has chosen to evangelize the world. The aim of this course is to equip students to develop proficiency in a variety of styles of proclaiming the Word.

Objectives

1)To write and deliver sermons in different styles

2)To allow the text to influence the shape of the sermon

3)To articulate the importance of preaching in a post-modern world

4)To become aware of issues regarding voice and body language in communication

5)To become exposed to a wide variety of preachers and methods through video and/or audio recordings

6)To integrate delivery style and composition style
