We are trying to build up an online portfolio of what past pupils of Glan Afan are doing now. We would be very grateful for your contribution; hopefully it will inspire Glan Afan pupils to similar great things.

Where did you go / what did you do after you left Glan Afan? Did you need further qualifications?

After school I furthered my education at Neath college by taking Alevels in maths, physics, and electronics. I then proceeded to Swansea University where I studied for my physics degree. I am still at Swansea University at present working towards a Doctorate/Phd in engineering, performing research for CORUS.

What ambitions did you have in school? Have they changed?

I always had a desire to go to university and also to persue a career at Golf. I was a very keen golfer while at Glanafan and enjoyed playing for Glamorgan and i was also a member of the Welsh squad. However I decided to follow the academic route and that’s where I find myself at present.

What advice can you give any pupil who might want to do the same as you?

I believe that you only get out of life what your willing to put in. Make something of your life, work hard. I don’t believe that going to university is the be all and end all of building a prosperous future (however its probably the best time you’ll ever have), but what ever path you take work hard at it.
