Summary: for those in a hurry. We’ve got three completely renovated courts. A great deal of time, energy and money has gone into this and we are very grateful to those who have put in so much effort. Now, come to your Club and enjoy the new courts, spend money in the bar and bring your friends.

Dear Members,

Your Club has had a difficult yearfinanciallybut, thanks to the efforts of your committee (which has been meeting monthly) and Duncan we are I hope slowly returning to profit.

We have always aimed to have the best squash in Geneva and surrounding area played at our Club but, in order for this to happen, we realised that it was vital to renovate the main courts without waiting any longer. With the Club’s finances in such a delicate statethis was a difficult decision to take but we have taken the plunge and Courts 1, 2 and 3 have now been completed (considerable economy made by having three courts done at the same time). This is by far the biggest expenditure we have made in the last 30 years!

But this has only been possible through the terrific work done by Duncanwho alsoprovided a bed in his apartment for Lucas from CourtTech(the suppliers) in order to reduce costs further, effectively working virtually 24 hours a day for 13 consecutive days.

Although the courts look magnificent now that gives you no idea of the sheer hard labour needed to carry out this work. I would like to thank all those who helped: from several mornings to a couple of hours after work or at the weekend. You did not just come along to observe, you contributed; indeed on some occasions there were too many of you. I cannot name everyone – you know who you are - but I would like to single out particularly Tim Moss who was there all day every day labouring: He understandably doesn’t want to see another 25kg bag of sand for a bit!

We now have three top quality courts of which we can be really proud.

Now, dear Members, it’s up to you to play lots of squash, use the courts, buy drinks at the bar, encourage new members to come in and generally animate the place. Keep an eye out for the new squash training programme with Julien Balbo January to April.

So thanks again to all who have worked on the courts and my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a fit and active New Year.

Ben Holt

President.
