Dear Student Organization President,

Student Congress annually receives money from the Student Service Advisory Committee to assist in funding registered student organizations (with university accounts) for various activities such as bringing educational speakers and programs to campus, travel expenses for students to attend competitions and conferences, and other activities. Please thoroughly review the UTA Student Organization Funding eligibility requirements and criteria, provided below, before submitting an application.

Funding Eligibility Requirements

·  Applicant organization must be…

o  A duly registered Student organization.

o  Not under any sanction by the University.

o  Currently conforming to all applicable University organizational standards.

o  Not currently receiving Student Service Fee funding or money from a department that receives Student Service Fee funding.

o  Must have a valid University cost center number.

·  If applying for travel funding…

o  Must travel by common carrier (i.e. plane, train, or bus).

o  Precedence will be given to students/organizations that are receiving awards, or delivering a presentation, at a State or National Conferences.

·  Also consider…

o  Funding dollars will be available once per academic year, per student organization.

·  Program Assistance Fund may not be used for

o  Philanthropic events

Student Congress holds hearings to determine the distribution of these funds for Student Organizations. The Rules and Appropriations Committee of Student Congress (comprised of Senators and the Student Congress Parliamentarian) is responsible for hearing these requests and allocating funding. The Committee will hold hearings on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in one of the rooms on the second floor of the University Center (UC). Each hearing allows for presentations that are limited to seven minutes. The hearing dates for Fall 2016 are September 6, September 20, October 4, October 18, November 15, November 29. Dates and times may be subject to change.

Applications are to be received 30 days prior to the date of the event.

Applications are located in the Student Congress offices in the lower level of the UC (Suite B150). They can also be found online at www.uta.edu/sc. Submit 10 copies of the application to Marcy Garcia, the Administrative Assistant for Student Governance. All applications will be date stamped to ensure proper consideration. You will be contacted by email prior to your hearing date.

After each hearing, the Committee will make its recommendation, which will be sent to the Assistant Director of Student Governance for review.
