Balboa System Install

Please read all the instructions and study the 14 pictures before starting.

, Tools and items you will need. The screws are there to give a size compare to the drill bits you will need. The screws are self-taping so a smaller hole works better. Note the size of the screw drivers. The flat head is for the grounding lugs and should fit snug. Bolting is with a ½ “wrench. You will need to purchase a good washing machine hose F to F for priming. (You might want to check the condition of your existing washer hoses also at this time).

, Parts bag 2 ripped washer/gaskets. The rib fits in the connector grove, 2 bigger screws for mounting control box, 6 screws total, 4 smaller for mounting the pump stand and 2 longer for the Therapy Mod. Hood secure.

, Parts of the plumbing system, please use great care and protect the liner when putting everything together. Lay out the parts and first be aware how the unit goes together.

, Assemble the suction system by loosely threading together the 2 parts. Please catch the threads but still let it be able to swing. The joint is below the water line ever has to be sealed tight. The pump pulls the water in so it does not have to be tight. When you first assemble the entire Therapy unit, you want everything to be able to adjust to each part and then later, after all has been adjusted and lined up you can snug down and screw and bolt tight but at first we are going only for fit.

, A picture of the final assembly and what you want to work to.

, Position and install plumbing suction, down pipe in seat hole and up pipe into the filter well. The reason the threaded pipe is movable is so you can make any local angle adjustments.

, Connect the plumbing to the jet return system starting with from the jets, to the heater, to the pump union, keep a firm but still flexible snug level.

,Test fit pump stand position, wait to screw to wall. Test fit pump on stand and use EXTRA care when lifting and moving the heavy pump/motor. Now is when you start to nudge the components to start your final alignment. Use the pump mounting hardware to also prevent the pump/motor from falling off the base but still lose enough to allow some movement. Pump does not have to sit square to the pump stand.

, Before mounting the control box connect the 2 provided green ground wires to the pump and heater. Be sure they are good and tight and use care not to slip with the screw driver. Connect the priming hose and make sure you have hand clearance to the spigot handle.

, Lay out system wires and please note how the lid for the control box locks and opens. It slides together. Install the top side digital control panel and if the spa is filled use caution not to get the box connector in the water.

, A good time to make sure the whole system fits under the hood that fits to the back of the spa. Make any adjustment to system and once sure tighten plumb system very evenly so it all comes tight together. Screw home pump stand and bolt down pump. Re-test back hood and remove.

, Position the control box and connect the respective wires. Lay out the heavy cord with the GFCI plug to the proper sized outlet. Do not use extension cords. Wait till spa filled to test GFCI and re set. Test every week. Outlet must provide the required 15 amp load to spa. There should be no other items being used on the circuit. Consult all local codes.

,The wires will either have specific plug ends or connect with phone type jacks. Curl up the wires and organize them so as not to interfere with the spinning of the pump. Close the control box and final mount it to the spa wall.

, Fill the spa, plug in power cord and start the spa. Prime the spa on hi speed of the pump. Follow the balboa operation instructions. Please note the air control device that allows you to mix air to the jets for different effects. When being done with the spa shut off the air control so it does not draw air and put to low speed which then brings on the heater if the unit calls for heat. From time to time the unit will run and build heat or just go on and off as needed or just for a few seconds to read the temperature. If the spa is off and you want the hi speed pump just hit the button and it will come on.
