Is the current program a health program or more geared to
vocational skills?

This is not geared towards vocational course. This is a education program supplementing the main school curriculum that does not delve into community health issues.

The problem is very obvious in villages where sanitation is lacking. For most of us who have visited villages the problem is evident. Since most of the children coming to Deenabandhu school come from poor families, the benefits of such education are many fold and prevents the new generation from following the same unsanitary practices. The average income of 80% of the parents is less than Rs 15,000-00 per year. They are mostly the dwellers in areas similar to urban slums but less crowded. They own meager facilities and toilets are totally lacking. The Health proramme is aimed at the need for sanitation and health education for the majority of the children and also their parents and community at large. The program has been successful in communicating the education imparted here to the greater community.

? What's the feedback from last year's funding - how did it help?

The main purpose of this programme was to give relevant inputs to children with regard to health. Also we did envisage to take right type of health messages to the villagers through the children. To some extent we have been successful in taking this message to the villagers through skits performed at the parent’s meetings and through street play at the village.
