Dear Sir/Madam,

Please find enclosed my educational and professional history in application for consideration.

I have always had a fascination with how machinery such as engines and other complex mechanical and electrical components work and knowing how to implement tried and tested or impromptu solutions to resolve problems they may suffer. I am passionate about engineering and view it as an essential industry instrumental in both maintaining the global infrastructure and finding innovative new ways of improving it. Personally I am a very active and social person, I hold a membership in my local health centre with a very keen interest in personal fitness and socialising with friends or family regularly. I hold an interest in learning about different cultures and currently I am independently studying the Spanish language. I have a very outgoing, decisive and straight to the point nature, like seeing things through to completion and enjoy things being done correctly and neatly so bring great organisation and drive.

The nature of my current studies prepares me perfectly to take full advantage and be successful with this fantastic opportunity on offer. My current, and previous courses, have rewarded me with a broad base of knowledge and wealth of experience in electrical and mechanical principles, electrical and mechanical practical skills, engineering mathematics to a level of technician 1, computer aided design technology and engineering communication. I’ve also developed my leadership qualities by completing project and contract management outcomes recently.

My current plan is to take my education as far as I can through either university or another avenue such as sponsorship. My willingness to leave employment and enter full time education in engineering I hope demonstrates my hunger and desire to work hard and be involved and successful in this industry. Thank you for accepting my resume for consideration and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Kieran Lacon

EXPERIENCE

Cunningham Lindsey, Glasgow- Incident Manager

March 2016 - August 2016

This position saw me take charge of a portfolio of insurance claims predominantly regarding large fires or flooding of regional areas. A very demanding role which developed my interpersonal skills greatly and allowed me to showcase my ability at working under severe pressure. I was pivotal in;

●The management and adjustments of financial reserves of cases in my portfolio, which required me to distribute my time efficiently whilst overseeing many different cases.

●Conducting anti-fraud questioning and checks throughout the management of a case in accordance with current regulations, including liaising with local authorities and referring to the relevant department for further investigation if necessary.

●Being intimately involved in discussions with Loss adjusters, building surveyors and our own supply chain network

●Decision making regarding anything from a detailed survey of works needing approval, negotiating financial costs/settlements and the re-homing of people displaced due to the event.

Direct Line Group- Claims Response Team

January 2014 - February 2016

Completing full training in Insurance products, regulators and regulations I was employed as a claims response team operative. It was a good chance to test my ability in learning new skills and I gained customer service experience I’ll use in the future. The position had limited progression routes and I subsequently moved on after two years to a more specialized position at Cunningham Lindsey.

-2014

Previous to these two positions I held roles with Babcock International in HMNB Clyde as a cleaner for two years, I had a position as a youth sports coach with West Dunbartonshire council and I had a six month opportunity in

a Ford vehicle repair garage as a general assistant to both the office and mechanics. Unfortunately they had an ongoing apprenticeship at the time and could not accommodate a second one.
