Relius Administration 10.0 is scheduled for release in early December 2004. This upgrade will include important software changes requiring many clients to upgrade before December 31, 2004. Due to the need for clients to upgrade quickly, we have made significant changes to the normal upgrade process to help streamline each client’s migration to Relius Administration 10.0.

As part of these efforts, enclosed you will find the Relius Administration 10.0 Workstation Component install CD. For clients that use the Participant Web, Plan Sponsor Web, Customer Service Rep (CSR) and/or Voice Response Unit (VRU) a second CD is also included (the Relius Administration 10.0 Web Component install CD).

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE ENCLOSED INSTALL CD AT THIS TIME!

The upgrade to Relius Administration will be a two-part process combining the use of the enclosed Component CD as well as upgrades downloaded from our web site. You should not begin the upgrade process until Relius Administration 10.0 has been officially released and is available on the SunGard Corbel web site.

Important Considerations Before Upgrading. Before undertaking the upgrade to Relius Administration 10.0, please review the following important considerations. Beginning the upgrade before meeting the following criteria will cause unnecessary downtime or the upgrade process to fail.

You have reviewed the Relius Administration 10.0 hardware requirements and your systems meet or exceed the minimum recommendations.

You have performed a full and complete backup of the Relius Administration database and associated servers.

You have received the Relius Administration 10.0 Component Install CD and read the installation instructions.

Relius Administration 10.0 upgrade has been posted to the SunGard Corbel web site

You have verified that each Relius Administration workstation has Internet Explorer 6 or later installed.

If you anticipate performing the upgrade during an evening or weekend, you have contacted technology support in advance to arrange for availability.

Additionally, if you operate the Participant Web, Plan Sponsor Web, Customer Service Response (CSR), Terminal Server, and/or Voice Response Unit (VRU) systems, you must also confirm:

You have installed and configured Relius Administration 9.1 web prior to upgrading.

You have received the Relius Administration 10.0 Web Component Install CD.

You have obtained Windows 2003 Server or Windows 2003 Web Server for the web server.

If you are licensed to run Relius Administration remotely, you have obtained Windows 2003 Server for the Terminal Server.

Workstation Upgrades: A brief outline of the upgrade process for each workstation is listed below.

Before performing the upgrade, please consult the Relius Administration 10.0 upgrade documentation for complete step-by-step instructions.

Download the Relius Administration 10.0 upgrade and documentation from the SunGard Corbel web site.

  • On the first workstation (the VRUmove workstation if your office uses the Relius Administration Web or VRU products), run the Relius Administration 10.0 Component install CD. This will upgrade existing components on your workstation as well as install Crystal Reports 10.
  • Run the Relius Administration 10.0 upgrade on the workstation.
  • Repeat the process for each remaining workstation.

Workstation New Install: To install a new workstation with Relius Administration 10.0, the same installation steps as outlined above should be performed. The installation process will detect that you are installing a new workstation and will install all the required components. Clients operating Relius Administration in a standalone environment that wish to install on a new machine must first install Personal Oracle using the Windows 2000/Windows XP Personal Oracle installation CD included from prior releases of Relius Administration. If you are no longer in possession of this CD, please contact Relius Administration Technology Support to obtain a replacement copy.

Terminal Server. As part of the Relius Administration 10.0 upgrade, clients operating Relius Administration through the use of Terminal Services or Citrix will need to migrate the remote access server to Windows 2003 Server. If you elect to use your current hardware, the terminal server should be formatted and installed with Windows 2003 Server before installing the Relius Administration 10.0 Component CD. For more information on this migration process, please contact Relius Administration Technology Support.

Web: Beginning with Relius Administration 10.0, the web server will be migrating to Windows 2003 Server or Windows 2003 Web Server. If you elect to use your current hardware, the web server should be formatted and installed with Windows 2003 Server before installing Relius Administration 10.0. For more information on this migration process, please contact Relius Administration Technology Support. The Web upgrade will include a separate 10.0 Web Component install CD, and an additional install will also need to be downloaded from the SunGard Corbel web site.

Voice Response Unit (VRU): There are no technical changes for the Voice Response Unit for Relius Administration 10.0. Although there no major technical changes to the hardware for the VRU, the Component CD and the RA10 update will still need to be loaded on the VRU.

Future Upgrades: With the release of Relius Administration 10.1 in early spring 2005, the Oracle database server will be migrating to Windows 2003 Server and Oracle 10g. Clients should complete a new server sizing recommendation (found on the SunGard Corbel web site) to obtain the current hardware specifications for this server. It is important to note that these hardware requirements differ from prior database server requirements. Please review your current hardware and plan accordingly.
