Memorandum of understanding BETWEEN THE UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE GOIÁS – BRAZIL – ANDUniversity of XXXXXX – XXXXXX – TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC, CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC RELATIONSHIPS IN THE AREAS OF TEACHING, RESEARCH, EXTENSION ACTIVITIES AND CULTURE.

The UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE GOIÁS, hereafter referred to as UFG, a federal institution of higher education level of teaching and research, set up as an educational autarchy with a special regimen and linked to the Ministry of Education, created by the Law # 3.834-C, on the 14/12/60, and restructured by the Decree # 63.817, on the 16/12/68, with headquarters at the Samambaia Campus, Goiânia –GO, registered in the CGC under the number 01.567.601/001-43, and at this act represented by thePresidentProf. Dr. Edward Madureira Brasil, Brazilian, resident and domiciled in Goiânia - Goiás, bearer of the Identity Card number 1035570 2ª via SSP-GO and the C.P.F. 288.468.771-87 and the XXXXXX, hereafter referred to asXXXXXX, with headquarters atXXXXXX, at this act represented byXXXXXXdo agree on the present Agreement, which will be governed by the rules of Law 8.666 of 21/06/93,especially for its articles 54, 55, 61 and 116, by the Resolution CEPEC 828/2007 and by means of the following clauses and conditions:

CLAUSE ONE – THE AIMS

The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to promote academic, cultural and scientific relationships between UFG andXXXXXXin the areas of teaching, research, extension activities and culture.

CLAUSE TWO – THE WAYS OF COOPERATION
The collaboration, under this memorandum of understanding, may be accomplished, in all the areas of common interest, by the following ways:

a)joint research projects;

b)joint publications;

c)exchange of professors and researchers for teaching or research missions;

d)exchange of students.

§1oWith regards to item “a”, the parts agree to develop the research project entitled: XXXXXXXX

§2oCollaboration between the parts does not imply financial commitment.

CLAUSE THREE – THE MUTUAL OBLIGATIONS

a)to offer to professors, students and researchers from the partner Institution similar treatment to that received by its professors, students and researchers, facilitating the access to academic, cultural and scientific services;

b)to guarantee to students, professors and researchers from the partner Institution free tuition fees and other academic fees;

c)to facilitate the publishing of books and the inclusion of specialist’s papers of the partner Institution on their own specialized journals, according to the publishing norms of each Institution;

d)to plan periodic meetings among professors and researchers of both Institutions from similar specialized areas, aiming to exchange their experience and knowledge, as well as facilitate the collaboration in common projects;

e)to search financial support to develop joint projects and work plans.

CLAUSE FOUR – THE EXCHANGE OF STUDENTS

a) each University is committed to receive graduate or undergraduate students, whose numbers, activities and duration should be in accordance with the Work Plans.

b) each accepted student must have previously prepared a plan of studies authenticated by the home institution, and submitted to the approval of the host institution.

c) each University will select its students for the mobility program and will communicate the partner institution at least 2 (two) months before the beginning of the activities, according to the dates fixed by the host university.

d) students on mobility program must obey the host institutions’ and the country of destination’s rules, statutes and customs.

e) travel and food expenses will be covered by the students on mobility program as well as the expenses concerning insurance policy, student visa and pedagogical materials.

f) each student must have an insurance policy valid in the foreign country during the mobility period and the required VISA.

g) the accepted student must prove knowledge of the language in which the activities will be carried out.

CLAUSE FIVE – THE VALIDITY

The present Agreementwill be in effect from the date of the most recent signature and will last for 5 (five) years.

CLAUSE SIX - THE CANCELLATION

The present Agreement, obeying the 90 (ninety) days period, for previous communication, by writing, may terminate, provided that such termination will no affect the completion of any activity underway at the time or any previously advertised activity in which commitments to students or professors have been made.

CLAUSE SEVEN – THE PENDENCIES

Any pendency must be solved by a team of 02 (two) members of each Institution, and the Presidents of both.

CLAUSE EIGHT– THE ADDITIONAL TERMS

Any specifications (especially with regards to financial commitment or execution of research projects) or alterations, provided the aims of this Agreement and the period of its effectiveness are observed, may be incorporated by means of Additional Terms.

Agreeing with the terms hereby presented, the parts sign this instrument in 04 copies (2 in Portuguese, 2 in English), with the same wording in order to produce the legitimate legal effects.

Agreeing with the terms hereby presented, the parts sign this instrument in 02 copies in English with the same wording in order to produce the legitimate legal effects.

Work Plan

1- Identification of the aims to be carried out

3. Steps or phases of execution

3.1 – to set up the equal commission that will be responsible for the coordination of the Memorandum of Understanding between UFG andXXXXX;

3.2 – to elaborate the Work Program with a view to put into operation the Memorandum of Understanding of which the Work Program is an integral part;

3.3 – to write up Specific Work Plans with the Teaching Units that have interests in common with the Memorandum of Understanding;

3.4 - to put into operation the carry out of courses, events, etc. by means of common planning.

6. Prevision of the beginning and the end of the execution of the plan – Validit

05 (five) year counting from the last date of the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding of which this Work Plan is a part.

7. If the Memorandum of Understanding includes engineering work or service, it is necessary to prove that the resources are certain.
