COMPETITION RULES 2017
- ENTRY is free. £1.50 is payable per person per game, except on Finals Days.
Greys to be worn during preliminary rounds. Whites on Finals Days.
Dress code as per Club Rule 30 (October 2008).
- Competitors must draw for rinks however many games are being played at one time. The Competition Secretary will decide the rinks on Triples and Finals Days.
Competitors must use Club score cards, which are to be signed by both players and/or skips and then put into the competition envelope provided. When signing the score card each player/skip should sign for the opponents score.
ONLY THE COMPETITION SECRETARY TO WRITE ON MASTER SCORE SHEETS.
3.The upper named player in the draw is the challenger and is responsible for arranging the game. Within the first 7 days of the relevant round, the challenger must offer the opponent 3 dates (out of working hours, if applicable) for the match to be played prior to the published qualifying date for that round.
Matches must be played by the published date. No variations to the published dates will be allowed. Any disputes are to be referred to the Competition Secretary and if not resolved will be arbitrated by a sub-group of the Club committee.
4.All singles games must have a marker to be valid and which the challenger should arrange.
5.Commencement of play must not exceed 15 minutes from the time arranged otherwise offenders will forfeit the game. Any games forfeited for any reason will still attract the appropriate match fee and the player(s) causing the forfeiture will be responsible for meeting this fee.
6.Handicaps for handicap matches are decided by a sub-group of the Committee. Handicaps will range from 0 to -5(for the most highly handicapped players). The difference between each player’s handicap must be written on the first line of the scorecard (one at 0, the other a minus figure) and shots added mathematically thereafter. The game ends when either player reaches 21 shots.
7.Match scores:
SINGLES play to 21 shots.
PAIRS play 21 ends.
AUSTRALIANPAIRS & TRIPLES play 18 ends.
TWO-WOODS play to 15 shots – only shots within 1 metre of the jack count.
The SETS competition will comprise two sets of 9 ends. Should the sets be shared a best of three ends tie-break will be played. The opponents will toss for the mat and choose alternately. One shot only to count each end of the tie-break.
8.Trial ends are allowed in all competitions but are limited to two woods per player for two ends only. Following the trial ends all shots count.
9.AUSTRALIAN PAIRS: First End: Player no.1 (on both teams) plays 2 woods (in turn); Player no.2 (on both teams) plays 4 woods (in turn); Player no.1 (on both teams) plays 2 woods (in turn).
Second End Player no.2 plays 2 woods; Player no.1 plays 4 woods; Player no.2 plays 2 woods.
Each odd numbered end is played as for the first end.
Each even numbered end is played as for the second end.
Visiting the head during matches is not permitted.
10.PAIRS and TRIPLES games: if equal scores are held after the last end, one more end shall be played. Toss for the jack with the mat to be not less than 2 metres from the rear ditch and not less than 25 metres from the front ditch.
11.In pairs and triples a substitute can be used of equal standard and if one is used more than once the substitute has to stay in the team. All substitutes must be agreed with the Competition Secretary beforehand. A substitute may play in any position.
12.All drawn competitions are to be played as drawn. Any queries must be referred to the Competition Secretary before playing.
13.Games must be played in all weather conditions unless the Green-Coordinator or the Competition Secretary declares the green unfit to play.
14.RESTRICTED SINGLES: any full member who has not won a Singles competition is eligible to enter.
15.Finals Day markers and umpires will be selected by the Committee and Club Competition Secretary.
16.No practising or roll-ups are allowed on Finals Days whilst competition matches are in progress and not on rinks which have been designated for use in later competition matches.
17.Any disputes arising during the Season to be referred to the Club Competition Secretary.
