Rome

Rome Exchangites have created an exact scale replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as yet another way to teach history and respect for our Veterans. All of the wreathes and engravings are exact duplicates and hand carved. The model is actually in two pieces and has wheels that can be lowered down to allow it to be easily transported. The Americanism committee is already getting requests from schools and other patriotic organizations for the display to be brought to their location so students can learn about the history of the original tomb located at Arlington National Cemetery.

The display was unveiled to the public at a city-wide Memorial Day observance that was held at the club’s Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.

Earlier, a delegation of members of the Rome Club traveled to Washington and four had the honor and privilege to place a wreath at the real Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington.

The Exchange Club Family Resource Center (FRC), founded by the Exchange Club of Rome and Georgia’s only accredited Exchange Child Abuse Prevention Center, was honored by the Georgia District on the 25th anniversary. Shown presenting a plaque to FRC Executive Director Tina Bartleson is Georgia District CAP Foundation Chairman Lisa Glisson (Statesboro).
