School-Wide Title I Parent Involvement Policy

Pleasant Grove Elementary School Parent Involvement Policy is jointly developed and agreed upon by a committee that consists of parents, teachers, administrators, and other staff members. The School-wide Title I policy will be evaluated and updated annually by the committee to accommodate any changing needs. The most current version of the policy will be presented and distributed to all parents at the beginning of each academic year and will be written in language that is simple and understandable. A copy of the policy will be on file in the Media Center, with the district Federal Programs director, and with the Whitfield County Board of Education.
Annual Meeting
Pleasant Grove will convene an annual meeting in the fall to inform parents of the school’s participation in the School-wide Title I program, to explain the program and its requirements, inform parents of their right to be involved, encourage their attendance, discuss the School Parent Compact (see appendix), and provide an opportunity for parents to serve on the School–wide Title I committee. Invitations notifying parents of this meeting will be sent home.
Meeting Options
The school will survey parents for convenient meeting times and offer such choices of options as morning, afternoon, or evening to ensure that all parents have the opportunity to be involved in the meetings. Efforts will be made to eliminate any parent involvement barriers. Teachers will be encouraged to use the “Student Led” conference model in order to promote parent participation in meetings. Translators will be provided as needed. Childcare will be provided for parents when Title I parent meetings occur (this will not include Title I activity nights, for example, Title I Math Night).
Parent Involvement
Parents will be involved in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, developing, reviewing, evaluating, and improving the School-wide Title I program, including the Parent Involvement Policy and the School-Parent Compact. Parents will be invited to all School-wide Title I committee meetings to ensure opportunities for involvement. The school and parents will work jointly on an on-going basis to improve parental involvement. Parents will be informed and trained in Pleasant Grove’s volunteer program. Parent interest surveys will be sent home to determine the interest of our parents and how we can utilize those interest at PGE.
Providing Parent Information
The school will provide parents of all students with timely information either by conferences, meetings, or literature concerning:
A. Title I Programs in the school
B. Results of the annual school review including school performance profiles
C. Individual students’ assessment results and their interpretation
D. A description and explanation of the school curriculum
E. The assessments used to measure student progress and the proficiency levels the students are expected to meet
F. Opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions, share experiences with other parents, and participate as appropriate in decisions relating to the education of their children
G. Provide timely responses to parent suggestions
H. Collect all unsatisfactory parent comments regarding the School-wide Plan and attach those comments to the School-wide Plan when submitted to the LEA. The School-wide Title I committee assures that if the Parent Involvement Policy is unsatisfactory to the parents, parent comments on the policy will be made available to the Local Educational Agency or LEA.
Provide Assistance
Pleasant Grove Elementary School will provide all parents with information to facilitate understanding in the following areas:
- Georgia Standards of Excellence
- School improvement process, if applicable
- Components of a school-wide Title I program
- State and Local Assessments
- Requirements of School-wide Title I parent involvement
- Ways parents can monitor their children’s progress and work with educators to improve student performance (Infinite Campus, Remind, and Dojo)
- Ways parents can participate in decisions relating to the education of their children
- Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE) program
- Student Support Team (SST)
- Other resources and programs that are available to eligible children (ESL, SpEd, RTI, Reading Recovery, and EIP)
- College Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI)
- Parent Resource Center and Volunteer On- Line Training/informational meeting
- How to have an effective conference with a student’s teacher
Materials and Training Opportunities
The school will provide appropriate and feasible materials and training determined by parent input and surveys. Examples are as follows:
A. Coordinating necessary literacy training and using technology from other sources to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s achievement
B. Providing parents with information and materials needed for enrolling in adult
high school programs, High School Equivalency Diploma Test (GED), and
other literacy training programs, which are available through our school system and local businesses
C. Technology training to assist parents in working with their children.
D. Mandated Reporter Training
E. Weekend Meals Program for qualifying students.
Home/School Connection
Opportunities will be made to educate staff members in understanding the value of working as partners with parents. Parent led programs such as Parent Teacher
Association (PTA), parent volunteering, and family nights will be planned to build ties between home and school. In-service training, conferences, workshops, etc. will provide assistance to staff in techniques for reaching out and communicating effectively with parents as equal partners. Each student is also given a communication notebook at the beginning of the school year that promotes home/school communication.
Coordination of Parent Involvement Programs
A plan will be developed to coordinate and integrate parent involvement programs, activities, and strategies with other programs. Other programs may include, but are not limited to Head Start, other Preschool Programs, Early Intervention Program (EIP), School Outreach, Family Support Council, Family Connections, and other appropriate programs and agencies in the community.
Community/Business Partnerships
Realizing the value of outside resources, Pleasant Grove Elementary School will develop appropriate community-based partnerships for parent involvement and activities with businesses, service organizations, and the community. This may include providing information about opportunities for community organizations and businesses to work with parents to form partnerships.
Parent Resources
As appropriate and feasible, the school may provide the following opportunities to help parents become full partners in the education of their children:
A. Literacy training

C. Positive Behavior
D. Helpful Homework Strategies
E. Local parental involvement activities
F. Training for parents to enhance involvement of other parents
G. Adopting and implementing of a model designed to improve parental involvement
H. Providing other reasonable support for parental involvement activities as parents request
I. Updating the Parent Resource Center in the spring of 2016 with new materials for parent use. Parents will be informed, trained, and encouraged to use this resource throughout the school year to meet the educational needs of their children.
Parent Involvement with Assessment
Parents will participate in an on-going and end of year assessment to evaluate the effectiveness of the parent involvement initiative. These evaluations will be essential to Pleasant Grove’s continuous improvement of parental involvement and participation. These will be in the form of surveys (AdvancEd, school surveys, etc.)
Primary Language and Communication Adaptation
Pleasant Grove Elementary will ensure, to the extent possible, that information concerning school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities and information be sent home in the primary language used in the home and in a format understandable to all parents including Limited English Proficient, migratory workers, and those with disabilities.
Other Parental Activities
To strengthen parent involvement, Pleasant Grove will provide, as appropriate and feasible, other reasonable support for parental involvement activities upon parent request.
Parental Involvement Activities May Include the Following:
· Involving parents in the training available for teachers, administrators, and other educators, as appropriate and feasible, to improve effectiveness of such training.
· Training parents to enhance and promote the involvement of other parents.
· Adopting and implementing model approaches to improving parental involvement.
· Conduct Professional Learning to administration, teachers, and support staff on the value and utility of contributions of parents, and how to reach out to, communicate, and work with parents as equal partners, implement and coordinate parent programs, and build ties between home and school.

Los reglamentos de Participación de los Padres de la Escuela Primaria Pleasant Grove están juntamente desarrollados y acordados por un comité que consiste de padres, maestros, administradores, y otros miembros del personal. La versión actualizada de los reglamentos será presentada y distribuida a todos los padres al comienzo de cada año académico y será escrita en un lenguaje simple y comprensible. Una copia de los reglamentos estará archivada en el Centro de Comunicación, con el director de Programas Federales del distrito, y con la Junta de Educación del Condado Whitfield.
Reunión Anual

Opciones de Juntas

Participación de los Padres
Los padres estarán envueltos de una manera organizada, continua, y oportuna en la planificación, desarrollo, revisión, y mejora del Programa de Título I a Nivel Escolar, incluyendo los Reglamentos de Participación de los Padres y el Pacto de la Escuela con los Padres. Los padres serán invitados a las juntas del comité a Nivel Escolar de Título I para asegurar sus oportunidades de envolvimiento. La escuela y los padres trabajarán juntos continuamente para mejorar la participación de los padres. Los padres serán informados y entrenados en el programa de voluntarios de Pleasant Grove. Proveer Información a los Padres

D. Una descripción y explicación del currículo/programa de estudio de la escuela.
E. Las evaluaciones usadas para medir el progreso del estudiante y los niveles de competencia que se espera que los estudiantes logren satisfacer.
F. Se les dará oportunidades de tener juntas regulares para formular sugerencias, compartir experiencias entre si y participar en las decisiones apropiadas en relación a la educación de los niños.
G. Proveer respuestas oportunamente a sugerencias de padres.
H. Reunir todos los comentarios no satisfactorios de padres con relación al Plan a Nivel Escolar y anexarlos al mismo cuando sometiéndolo a la Agencia Educacional Local (LEA).
El Comité a Nivel Escolar del Título I asegura que si los padres consideran la Póliza de Participación de Padres insatisfactoria, los comentarios sobre la póliza de los padres estarán disponibles a la LEA (Agencia Educacional Local).
Proveer Asistencia
La Escuela Primaria Pleasant Grove les proveerá a todos los padres con información para facilitar su comprensión en las siguientes áreas:

Materiales y Oportunidades de Entrenamiento
La escuela proveerá los materiales y entrenamientos apropiados determinados por los padres y las encuestas. Siguen algunos ejemplos:
A. La coordinación de entrenamiento necesario de alfabetismo y la utilización de la tecnología de otras fuentes para ayudar a los padres a trabajar con sus hijos para mejorar sus realizaciones.
B. Entrenamiento para ayudar a los padres para que trabajen con sus hijos para mejorar sus realizaciones.
C. Información y materiales necesarios para matricularse en los programas de educación de adultos, Evaluación de Diploma de Equivalencia del Enseño Preparatorio (G.E.D) y otros programas de entrenamiento de alfabetismo, los cuales están disponibles a través de nuestro sistema escolar y negocios locales.
