PLAY GOLF AMERICA DAY TO KICKOFF
SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK ACTIVITIES
Free Practice Round Tickets Available to Participants
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Senior PGA Championship Week will begin with a free Play Golf America Day on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City. Open to the general public, the Play Golf America Day will feature free golf lessons from area PGA Professionals, equipment demonstrations, trick-shot and long-drive exhibitions and more activities for all ages.
As part of the festivities, the first 275 people to register online at www.playgolfamerica.com and attend the event will receive two practice round tickets each to any of the three practice rounds for the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla. In addition, a drawing will be held for a free year of golf at Coffee Creek Golf Course in Edmond.
“The Play Golf America Day will be a great start to the week,” said Barry Thompson, executive director of The PGA of America’s South Central Section. “Not only will local fans be able to participate in a family-friendly golf festival, but they also may get free tickets to the Senior PGA Championship. It’s a real win-win. Add to this that there’s a chance to win a free year of golf, and it’s going to be a fun, exciting day.”
The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. CDT. Leading companies such as Callaway, Hogan, MacGregror and Cobra will be onsite to provide attendees the opportunity to test the newest golf equipment on the market throughout the day. More than 25 PGA Professionals will be offering free 10-minute golf lessons, and the first 250 people at the event will receive a two- pack of Pinnacle golf balls.
The schedule of clinics and special events includes:
1 p.m. – 2 p.m. CDT Junior Clinic conducted by Jim Woodward, Director of Golf at Gaillardia Golf & Country Club.
2 p.m. – 3 p.m. CDT Women’s Clinic conducted by Holly Hair, Women’s Golf Coach for the University of Tulsa.
3 p.m. – 4 p.m. CDT Trick-Shot Exhibition, featuring Kevin Compare, Renowned Trick-Shot Artist.
4 p.m. – 5 p.m. CDT Long-Drive Exhibition by Brian Pavlet, Member of the Cobra/Pinnacle Long-Drive Team.
For the free practice round ticket giveaway, all registrants after the first 275 will be placed on a wait list. Those who don’t show up that have pre-registered will forfeit their tickets to those on the wait list.
