Job Summary

Perform engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects.

Principal Job Duties

1. Review plans and specifications submitted by developers to assure that they are in compliance with the City development codes and ordinances.

2. Engage in engineering research, prepare engineering reports, make computations, and make time and material estimates.

3. Confer with and advise inspectors of construction projects and conduct inspections of projects during construction. Participate in reaching decisions as to necessary field changes.

4. Perform investigative and public relations work related to engineering activities.

5. Present reports to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council including preliminary plats, final plats, and other development related submittals.

6. Work on special projects and reports.

7. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Graduate Engineer I

Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering.

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Graduate Engineer II

Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering and two (2) to four (4) years of civil engineering experience

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred: Experience in municipal government

Knowledge of industry standard computer programs (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Kentucky Pipe Network Analysis, Auto CAD, etc.)

Public speaking experience

Compensation

Range: $50,383 - $77,019 Annually
