4

  • The student followed all of the directions for the project in a manner that shows great attention to detail and effort.
  • Each slice contains all of the relevant information required in a well written manner that clearly shows the student understood the book that was read.
  • All slices contain complete sentences that are well written and clearly supported by details from the book. The details provided show an understandable relationship between the student’s statements and story read.
  • All seven slices are complete along with a creative eighth slice. The topping is creative and clearly relevant to the subject matter of the book.
  • Very few grammar, punctuation, spelling, or capitalization mistakes.
  • The book report overall shows quality work, neatness, and attention to detail. It is apparent that the student spent a good amount of time working, and put in great effort.

  • All of the directions were followed. The slices contained the required information. The book report is complete with all requirements fulfilled.
  • Each slice is complete and supported by details from the book. At least six slices are presented in the book report. The topping is relevant to the subject matter of the book. It is apparent the student read and understood the book.
  • Some grammar, punctuation, spelling, or capitalization mistakes.
  • Overall, the book report shows good work. There is evidence of effort in both the writing and construction of the book report.

  • Most of the directions were followed, but the book report is not complete. Not all of the slices were complete, and there are requirements missing.
  • Each slice is unclear. There are little supporting details from the book. Less than six slices have been completed. It is uncertain whether the student completed and/or fully understood the book that was read.
  • There are many grammar, punctuation, spelling, or capitalization mistakes.
  • Overall, the book report appears rushed and incomplete. There is little evidence of effort in completing the book report.

  • The book report is clearly incomplete. The directions were not understood or followed. Slices are missing and/or incomplete.
  • There is no evidence of comprehension. The student is unable to provide details from the book and unable to fulfill the requirements for each slice.
  • There are many grammar, punctuation, spelling, or capitalization mistakes that reflect difficulty constructing sentences.
  • There is little or no effort apparent. This book report does not reflect work that the student should be capable of completing.
