Pioneer Fire Protection District’s Monthly Fire Chief Report

Part-I.) Emergency Calls Categorized:

Part-II.) Special Projects / Meetings / Trainings:
Fire Personnel have been attending trainings with the Grizzly Flat First Responders. This included helicopter operations with Reach 17 from McClellan airbase. Training was held at Pioneer Park and well attended by our personnel along with several other agencies.
Working with Grizzly Flat CSD regarding a drafting hydrant and appliances that can be used at the facility if we have a fire in that area.
Attended 2 Fire Safe Council meetings in Grizzly Flat
Attended El Dorado County Fire Chiefs Meetings
Attended Marshall Medical Center MCI planning meeting. MCI Drill is scheduled for November and will be an active shooting scenario.
Met with FASIS representative and conducted facility safety review

Part-III.) Personnel:

FF Leggoulon has a conditional job offer with El Dorado County Fire District. Start time TBD

Chief Daniels and crew responded to several large fires as part of an OES Strike Team to southern California.

Part-IV.) Buildings & Grounds:

Hilltop Tree Service has removed the last of the beetle killed trees on the south side of Station 38. The next part will be to rehab the fence and develop a grade plan for placement the new water storage tanks.
I have toured the other facilities as part of the strategic planning process and will be making recommendations regarding repairs that should be made prior to winter.

Part-V.) Fire Apparatus:

New engine 38 will be inspected at the factory August 15, 2016
E238 will be moved to Station 35 when the door height project is complete
The surplus engine will be delivered to Leoni Meadows in the next week

Part-VI.) El Dorado County Fire Chief’s Association & County JPA:

Meeting for July was cancelled

Part-VII.) Miscellaneous:

Re-write of the personnel policy and procedure manual has started. This will cleanup many of the obsolete or in some cases duplicate and contradictory policies from former Fire Chiefs.

District IIPP Manual is being updated

All personnel have been directed to sign up on our insurance website (FASIS) and review the IIPP requirements, along with supervisor training information
