Introduction to School Council – David Andrew / David welcomes all new parents tonight. The purpose and role of YRDSB school councils isdiscussed. An overview of PETHS for new parents and school council meeting dates. Elections are mentioned at the next meeting October 3rd. All Parents of PETHS students are welcome to attend and participate on council.

Student Council Report
Tahsin Najam / Linda welcomes everyone present. PETHS is fully staffed for the 2007 – 2008. Although student numbers may change currently there are 1,250 students currently enrolled. Expected to be 1,205 students October 31st. The ministry of education in Ontario has provided additional funding which will allow 27 high schools in York Region to have $5,000. per school. PETHS will share the monies within three departments.
Linda discusses the School Plan for Continuous Improvement for 2007 – 2008. This comprehensive plan is available in the Administration Offices or on the PETHS website. / PETHS will monies in 3 departments.
Administrator’s Report

Annette Oliver / Orientation was a great success with 800 students attending. Yearbook photo day is Sept 11th. Graduation pictures in November. Spirit Day will be at Green Acres with 21 teachers in attendance.
P A Day is Sept 21st- teachers work on Health & Safety issues.
Calendar for 2007 – 2008 is available Sept. 17th is safety day at school Sept. 18th is “code red” lockdown drill for the school.
Student Rep – Adrian Cheung / Introduction of Adrian Cheung. Orientation Day was a great success. New student council is preparing for Trudeaumania, and trying some new ideas this year. Grade 9 representation will be completed soon. The University Fair at the Metro Convention Centre is Sept 28 – 30th. / .
Staff Representative:
Diana Smith / Thanks the custodial staff for all there efforts in preparing PETHS for the start of a new school year. Diana will be the new Staff Representative with Vivian Garofalo this school year

New Business- D. Andrew / There is a Parent Engagement Advisory Committee call for applications. This committee will be responsible for providing strategies to support and strengthen the engagement between parents, and communities in support of student learning. Next Meeting / Meetings occur the first Wednesday in each month school in session. Meetings this school year occur Sept. 5th, October 3rd, (elections), November 7th, December 5, January 9th 2008, February 13th, March 5th, April 2nd, May 7th and June 4th 2008. All meetings occur in the library at PETHS – 7 PM.
