Objectives to be evaluated:

1.  Describe motion. Include concepts of reference point and relative motion.

2.  Identify the SI unit for distance and time.

3.  Calculate the speed and velocity of an object using the problem solving steps. . *Formulas must be memorized

4.  Differentiate between average speed and instantaneous speed.

5.  Differentiate between speed and velocity.

6.  Define and describe acceleration and deceleration.

7.  Calculate the acceleration of an object moving in a straight line using the problem solving steps. . *Formulas must be memorized

8.  Identify the symbols and SI Units used in physics for speed/velocity, initial velocity, final velocity, time, distance, and acceleration and use them correctly in word problems.

9.  Be able to manipulate equations of velocity, speed, force and acceleration in order to solve correctly for other variables. *Formulas must be memorized

10. Differentiate between scalar and vector quantities and provide examples of each.

11. Calculate force for any given word problem by using the problem solving steps. *Formulas must be memorized

12. Describe force.

13. Define balanced and unbalanced forces and explain how they relate to an object’s motion.

14. Identify the SI Unit of force as the Newton (N).

15. Describe Newton’s Laws of Motion.

16. Define friction and describe the four types of friction.

17. Explain what is meant by free fall.

18. Describe the net force and the law of equilibrium.
