ABSENCES AND EXCUSES

Notes from parents (maximum 3 per semester) asking that their child be excused from physical activity that day will be permitted. Parent notes will be good only for the day they are written. If an injury or ongoing illness will keep them from participation for multiple days then a doctor’s note must accompany their return to class. Parents should realize that grades in physical education are primarily based on ACTIVE participation in class.

If a student is absent from class (excused, unexcused, ISS) no points are earned. However, studentsdo have the opportunity to make up the missed points. If a student is absent or unable to participate (based upon a parent/doctor excuse), a one page (front only) handwritten report on a sport, fitness, health or recreation related topic may be completed for full credit. You are expected to turn assignments in no later than 3 school days after the absence/s.Any student missing long term needs to speak with their instructor and get a “Long Term Absence Packet”. If absent in Health you cannot write a paper to get your point, you are required to contact your teacher about class assignments that were missed during the absence(s).
