Photo Editing Grayscale with Color Object
Part 1-tennis ball
1. Watch the video from our website to learn how to grayscale and color.2. RMS student server, business education, Photo editing folder, assignment folder and open the grandstand tennis image.
3. Change the image to black and white.
a. Layer menu
b. New adjustment layer
c. Hue/Saturation
d. Ok
e. Set the saturation to -100
f. Ok
4. Re-coloring the object
a. Choose the brush tool and adjust the brush size at the top of the window if necessary.
b. Change the foreground color to black.
c. Paint the tennis ball back to color.
5. Clean up the ball edges by changing the foreground to white and using the brush tool and zoom.
6. Name, hour, and assignment number in a text box upper left side.
7. Save to your ID # folder.
8. Print and adjust the picture to approximately 3-4 inches. Change to the color printer.

Part 2—Your b/w choice with color object
1. Find an image that can be turned black and white and have one object re-colored. The object should have some detail not something simple like the circle shape of the ball in assignment 2. This object should not be the whole picture just one small object that should pop when color is added. The “Wow” factor!
- Getting an image from the Internet:
- Google images for a choice or another browser.
- Click on the thumbnail (small image) Never take the thumbnail itself!
- Click on the hyperlink at the top “See full image.”
- Right click on the image and choose “save picture as” or “save image as.”
- Direct it to save in your id numbered folder.
- Change the file name if you want.
- Open the file in Photoshop to continue.
- Repeat the steps from assignment 2 to do the color changes.
- Name, hour, and assignment number in a text box upper right side.
4. Choose print and adjust the picture to fit half the sheet or less approximately 3-4 inches. Change to the color printer.
5. Staple both printouts together and turn in.
