Marsden Cricket Club

Photography and Videography Policy

Marsden Cricket club, in accordance with the ECB, wishes to ensure photography and video footage taken within the Club is done so appropriately. Marsden Cricket Club is keen to promote the playing of cricket and photographs of adults and children playing and enjoying cricket is an integral part of this promotion.

Consent to photograph

On all junior membership forms, parents (and juniors) are asked for consent to be photographed. Marsden Cricket Club accepts that photography of the child in some cases could compromise the safety of the child and where this is the case consent should not be given and the Club will ensure that the child in question does not appear in any photographs.

Family Photographs

The introduction of proportionate controls on the use of photographic equipment (including mobile phones) is part of general safeguarding good practice in the Club.

Parents should not be prevented from taking pictures of, or filming their children. These are normal family practices and help mark milestones in a child’s life. However, this has to be balanced against the needs of other children who may also be in the photograph. Therefore, parents who take photographs must adhere to the following rules:

  • All photos taken should primarily focus on the child of the photographer and those children they are directly interacting with
  • Photographs of children must not be inappropriate
  • Photographs which show juniors, other than the children of the photographer, must not be published without first being checked and approved for publication by Marsden Cricket Club. Publication includes being printed in newspapers, on posters and being uploaded on to the internet, including but not limited to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Children who appear in a published photograph must not be named

Club Photographs

A representative of Marsden Cricket club may be in attendance at training sessions, matches and social events, to take photographs to record the event.

Parental permission will be sought to use a child’s image in any publication. Wherever possible such images will be shared with both the parent and the child in advance in order that they can understand how the image will be used to represent cricket and Marsden Cricket Club.

Children will be asked for permission to use such images.

In publications, if the cricketer is named, there will be no associated photograph.

In publications, if a photograph is used the name of the cricketer will be withheld.

Only photographs of young cricketers wearing appropriate kit will be used, promoting positive images of young sportsmen and women, thereby avoiding the risk of inappropriate use.

Recommendations

Any concerns about the use of images of children should be reported to the Club Welfare Officer and recorded in the same manner as any other child protection concern

Children will be informed that if they have concerns they can report these to the coach or team manager

Video usage

Club coaches use video equipment as a legitimate coaching aid and is part of the coaching programme. Players, parents/carers are advised that any video material taken as part of coaching will be stored securely and deleted or destroyed when it is no longer needed, at parental request or when the child leaves the Club.
