Photo Upload Instructions

On the first page you will be asked to check your name.You should also read the information..

Click ‘Continue’ to proceed to the next page.

Here you will be asked to select a picture file to upload.

This can be a picture from a digital camera, mobile phone, or scanned photograph.

The system will accept images in JPG format, which isa standard image type for web pages (most digital cameras and mobile phones produce JPG format files).

The maximum dimensions of the image file is 3000 pixels wide x 3000 pixels high, with a maximum file size of 2 MB.

You may need to refer to the documentation for your camera or phone to check the file size produced and adjust the picture settings accordingly.

NB: You can use Microsoft Paint to convert an image in a different format (such as GIF or BMP) to JPG. (See below)

1. Open Microsoft Paint (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint)
2. Open the image you wish to convert (File > Open)
3. Save as JPEG (File > Save As)
4. Choose the name and location of the converted file.
5. Select JPEG (*.JPG,*.JPEG,*.JPE,*.JFIF) from the ‘Save as type’ menu.
6. Click the ‘Save’ button.

TIP - Once the picture is copied to your PC, you can check the file size by moving the mouse over the picture, as shown:

When you have selected the image, click the ‘Upload Image’ button.

If the image file does not comply with the system requirements, an error message will appear, similar to the one shown below:

If this happens you will need to adjust the image file accordingly, or use a different image file.

On the following page, you can check the uploaded photo.

If the picture is the wrong way up, you can use the ‘Rotate’ button to rotate the picture until it is the correct way up.

Once the picture is the correct way up, press the ‘Continue’ button to proceed to the next stage.

In this stage you can crop the image so that your face is framed correctly for the photo card.

1. Please check the ‘examples’ link to see some suitable photos.

2. Note the white box in the centre of the image:

3. Use the control panel to move and resize the box. You should also be able to use the +, - and arrow keys on your keyboard (this feature is not supported on all browsers – if you have problems with the controls, try the link for the alternative version)

4. When the box is framing your face as shown, click the ‘Continue’ button.

You will now see an example of your photo card.

Please check the photo carefully to make sure it looks correct. Please follow the guidelines link if you need help.

If you are completely satisfied that your photo looks correct and complies to the guidelines, click the ‘Finish’ button. Your photo will be uploaded for processing.

You may now click the ‘Close’ button to exit the system.
