Homework Policy

Homework is an important part of school because it allows you to practice what we’ve been working on in class and prepares you for quizzes and tests. Expect to have 10-15 minutes of homework at least three times a week in Spanish 2. In addition to the homework assignment, you should be studying vocabulary and verb conjugations every evening for 10-15 minutes.

Grading Scale:

A90-100

B80-89Semester Grade

C70-79Quarter 1 40%

D60-69Quarter 240%

FBelow 60Semester Exam20%

Grades posted on Infinite Campus weekly; projects may take more time.

Components of Grade

Your grade is based on mastery of the material. Points will be earned through class participation, workbook assignments, worksheets, journal writings, dialogues, projects, presentations, quizzes and tests.

You are expected to create original work. Plagiarism (taking work from a translation site, copying from a friend), and cheating on a quiz or test will result in an automatic zero.

Extra Credit Policy

You can succeed if you complete assignments, participate actively, and prepare for quizzes and exams. Therefore, I rarely provide extra credit opportunities. If I assign extra credit, it will relate to the curriculum and provide additional practice for you.

Make up Work

When you return from an absence, you need to check the assignment board and get any worksheets from me. You need to complete the missed work in the same number of days as you were absent. If you miss a quiz or test, you need to schedule a time to take it before school. This policy applies to excused absences only. All work missed during an unexcused absence is a zero. If you consistently fail to turn in homework assignments or projects, you’ll be assigned a mandatory tutoring session with me during Wednesday Homeroom to make up your missing work. You will be able to receive partial credit for these assignments.

Opportunities for additional help

I’m available during Wednesday Homeroom sessions for additional tutoring if you feel like you’re falling behind. In addition, you can arrange times before school for extra help. Please don’t wait until the day of the quiz or test to ask for help.

Classroom Expectations and Policies

1) Come to class on time and prepared (binder, pens & pencils) everyday.

2) Participate actively and positively.

3) Respect yourself, your classmates and teacher, and the learning environment.

4) Keep food, drinks, cell phones, beepers, videogames & I-Pods out of the classroom.

5) Stay focused and seated during class until dismissal.

6) Follow all school policies in the Student Code of Conduct.
