AN ANIMAL TRAGEDY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN – please read this information and if you want to assist and SAVE THE ANIMALS and IRWIN ANIMAL RESCUE FROM CLOSURE & DEMOLITION PLEASE SIGN and complete the Petition (on the foregoing page.)

Hello everyone, my name is Vivienne Tothill and I have the sad task of drawing your attention to an animal tragedy about to happen on our doorstep if we don’t all take steps to avert it.

IRWIN ANIMAL RESCUE CENTRE AND SANCTUARY

A sanctuary which is presently home to 1300 animals, called the Irwin Animal Rescue Centre, is at grave risk of being closed down and demolished with no organized thought of what will happen to the 1300 animals currently living there and being cared for by the owner, Anne Cronje, who has devoted the last 25 years of her life to rescuing and providing a home for abused, injured, abandoned creatures, which have been rejected by their previous owners.

The Sanctuary is situated between Meyerton and Vereeniging is the home to over 1300 rescued animals, including dogs, cats, birds and horses. However, the MidVaal local Municipality have brought an application in the Meyerton Magistrate’s Court to close and demolish the centre and I ask, what will happen to the animals? No one can give an answer and it is tantamount to serving a death sentence on all these rescued creatures.

Anne Cronje, an unsung hero who has gone the extra mile and devoted her life to save the animals in her immediate environment instead of being praised for her courage, care and kindness is being attacked by authorities when in fact she is performing a voluntary and humanitarian service to not only the animals , but to the people living in the area. She has saved the lives of innocent creatures and gives help to caring owners in the surrounding townships who cannot afford or are unable to help themselves.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE

In response to a plea for help Johannesburg Bar Advocate Stransham –Ford who is briefed by Attorney Solomon Mashimbye of Jabu Ngobeni Attorneyshave both kindly offered their services to assist free of charge. We request that they seek to have the Court Order dropped, as Mrs. Cronje has provided the required Plan of the property showing the kennels layout and wooden temporary kennels placed in the runs for shelter, and furthermore, the Irwin Animal Rescue Centre and Sanctuary is a Legitimate Registered Boarding Kennel and Section 21 non profit company registered in 1988.

Support and solidarity is desperately needed from animal lovers and other animal welfare organizations.

I make an urgent plea to all caring animal lovers to sign the attached petition and/or send letter stating their support and solidarity with the request to the Municipality to drop the court order. Those who can, are invited please to make donations to help Anne Cronje and the Irwin Animal Rescue Sanctuary to continue its life saving work. I alsoimplore those who are willing and able to adopt a pet from the centre and give it a good loving home.

An Open Day to “Save Irwin Animal Rescue Sanctuary” will be held on Sunday 28 June from 11 am to 12h30 and you are invited to attend.Bring your own Refreshments and Come and see the animals for yourselves and show your love & support.Let our voices be heard - stand up for the love and care of all creatures great and small who are unable to speak for themselves.

If you support with the above Plea, please Sign and complete the Petition list on the previous page via your contacts. When each page is completed, please email or fax the Petition back to me ASAP –
