Background

As part of the continuing Health & Social Care integration in Perth & Kinross PKAVS has been granted funding by Perth & Kinross Council and NHS Tayside to recruit a policy officer to oversee the implementation of the upcoming Carers (Scotland) Act 2016. The act is due to be implemented by 1st April 2018 and much work needs to be done between now and then to ensure that Perth & Kinross is fully compliant for the Acts implementation.

A Perth & Kinross Adult Carers strategy was launched in 2015 through to 2018 and so is due to be reviewed next year. A secondary part of this role will be to develop and then deliver a new adult carers strategy in Perth & Kinross for 2018.

PKAVS advances the lives of thousands of disadvantaged local people every year, as well as supporting, promoting and developing the wider Third Sector in Perth & Kinross.

Role

PKAVS has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work with PKAVS and the wider Health & Social Care partnership in preparation for the implementation of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.

There is much work to be done to ensure successful implementation of the Act in Perth & Kinross and some of the key duties of the role are:

The overarching role is to support Health & Social partners across the statutory and voluntary sector to effectively implement the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 across Perth & Kinross. This will involve

  1. Develop guidance and information which sets out local arrangements for implementing the Act
  2. Develop a communications plan for the implementation of the Act with key stakeholders
  3. Support the creation of workforce development strategy with partners and coordinate a training programme to support implementation
  4. Provide reports to the adult carers strategy monitoring group on progress made
  5. Review and report upon the outcomes of the Pledges made on the existing P&K Adult Carers Strategy and start to develop and deliver an updated Strategy for 2018.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to demonstrate high standards of written skills, as the post requires you to produce formal reports and maintain records. You will be able to proactively work both independently and as part of the team.
