Interview with Frances Dinnan

Financial Aid Officer

5/16/05

1.  Please provide a timeline/flowchart for the student process a student goes through in order to be considered a Financial Aid student?

Refer to Chart.

2.  Break down your position according to the job description.

50% Counseling

50% Financial Aid Administration

3.  Does your actual duties reflect your job description?

No. Due to the administrative demands, 75% of the workload is spent in fiscal reports, processing student applications, & mandating federal and state regulations. Only 25% is spent in actual FA counseling.

5. What areas do you feel should be addressed?

I feel my job should reflect 50% counseling and 50% administration. If I was relieved on some of the administrative responsibilities, I may be able to conduct credit courses, seminars, or workshops in areas like Financial Aid and Debt Management. Also, with the current tuition raises, more students will seek FA assistance in the coming years. FA may lack staffing to address the following trend.
