PERSONAL TIMELINE (20 points) Formative
Students are to create a timeline that will show them history isn't just something that had happened hundreds of years ago, but it is something happening everyday! There has been a lot going on with in their own life time and will continue to affect their way of life whether they like it or not!
8th graders are to use United StatesEvents. They can use any event within their lifetime, so... The great SF earthquake of 1906can not be used. They must have 5 historical events –only in United States..within their lifetime.
7th graders are to use WORLD EVENTS. They can use any event within their lifetime…so…. The bombing of Hiroshima during WWII can not be used. They must have 5 historical events – from outside of the United States..and within their lifetime.
They are also to include 5 personal events. For example, making an "All star team" or 1st pet are great ones to use. The year it happened is essential. Don’t worry too much if you cannot find the month or date.
One last component is to have a collage of pictures that describes them on the top portion. I should be able to look at this and get a sense of what makes the student who they are. For me, I would a map of Lake Tahoe, Diet coke, Dallas Cowboys, picture of a tent and such. If someone would look at this, they would get a glance of what I am all about by just looking at the pictures.
When you put your name and period on the top right corner, please include below your name your IB Characteristic that you identify with the most.
Please differentiate between the two timelines (the historical event and the personal events) some way (e.g. color coding, font) I would put the collage on top and the 2 timelines on the bottom.
